Hi
Looking to buy this with possibly a 6600 to run as a minimum but i am lost when it comes to memory speeds.
4Gb of memory but at what speed 5300\6400\8500(was looking at the balistixs) most people are buying 5300

As you posted in the hardware section on this, the "correct" RAM speed is PC4200 for your CPU, whilst PC5300 is correct for your motherboard. Unless the board deliberately reduces the FSB based off the chip, then you should get PC5300.
Personally I'm getting PC6400 RAM because I want to ensure that if I overclock my system, I won't be hampered by the RAM under any likely speed I'll reach (it'd let me get an E6600 chip up to 3.6GHz which is pretty optimistic on air cooling )
In the immortal words of Ali-G "Is it cos I is an Overclocker?"
