Help me with my IP35 Pro :)

    Hey guys

I received my IP35 pro on tuesday, but due to numerous commitments, was only able to first boot into it today! Well, I say that, I'm struggling here...

First off, it did boot but hung at the snake screen thing. No big issue, was expecting niggles really. The handy little POST code LED told me it was something to do with the memory. Can't remember now. Anyway, so I took out one stick of DDR and left the other one in. Got 02 error (thats nicely not recorded in the manual lol).

So took it out, reseated it, C1 error. That's 'detect memory', after the initial chipset stuff. Ok, reseat again. More issues. Swap stick, more issues. But it starts throwing out random codes, 08 (enable keyboard), 0A (auto detect mouse and keyboard), 25 (PCI initialization), 18 (detect CPU information), and of course, the enigmatic 02.

My belief although I may be wrong, is that it performs all these operations in order in the manual (ascending numbers, with letters thrown in for good measure), and when it has an error it does stop. I should note that the very first time I did get the logo screen, but nothing happened after I pressed delete. Since then I've had more issues. My suspicion is that it's a memory issue really, but I've got no other DDR2 DIMMs to test it with.

So, if someone could point me in the right direction I'd be happy. Oh yea, I also got the checking for floppy post code, even though I don't have a floppy drive...

edit: reset CMOS, error 52 then - Testing All Memory (clear all extended memory to 0)

Ok, think I may have rectified it..?

Reset CMOS, insert other DIMM, worked, changed voltages to 1.9, turned off, put other DIMM in, booted ok it seems.

But dear goodness isn't the BIOS lovely?

i think a few people have had troubles with different rams,to do with what the bios sets the default voltage too, might want to make yourself a member over at the abit usa forums as well,if you are not already.

yes, they're really more status codes imo rather than errors codes & as such when it stops on 1 it's more of a failure to proceed to the next one

You should note that there are 2 sets of codes, 1 set being uGuru specific usually denoted by the presence of 2 dots at the bottom e.g. X.X. .

Ah. Well I've got it all sorted now - just playing with uguru. In Windows, I tried setting it to to 'turbo' to see what it would do and it crashed my PC . But I'm learning it slowly, I like the uGuru in the bios, I'm just trying to take it slowly as it's certainly more robust than my Asus P5W and I would literally cry if I overvolted something and caused it to blow up.

personally I prefer to setup the user profiles in uGuru as i want & use those rather than the factory default presets.
& obviously some things (like memory dividers) still have to be set in the BIOS.

Yea, I've never used it before so didn't know what it did . Obviously with my memory being pc6400 the maximum fsb I can have is 400mhz as far as I'm aware with a 1:1 divider.

    which exact memory?
A lot of it will overclock & some nominally 6400 (usually with Micron D9 modules) will get up to DDR2 1100 or so (usually with more volatge though) ...

It's this: http://www.ebuyer.com:80/UK/product/114729 except 2gb with 2 x 1gb dimms. Will have a play later with the overclockability

Dreaming what did you do "different" to get this memory to work? May be useful for other folk.

Basically what I said in my first post:

    - unplugged, installed 1 DIMM in slot 1 (you may need to swap round which one, only one of mine booted up)
    - reset CMOS
    - booted into BIOS, changed memory voltage from 1.80v to 1.90v
    - put in second DIMM in slot 3

    worked
