    Abit-AV8 With CCTV Capture Card

    Hi guys.

I have an Abit-AV8 motherboard, and a CCTV capture card with a Connexant chipset, no further details at this time as I am not currently holding the hardware.

Basically, when the CCTV capture card (PCI) is inserted and the machine booted you cannot get any display through the on board graphics, almost as if the motherboard thinks the capture card is a GPU and switches the onboard off. We've tried installing an ADDITIONAL AGP graphics card but this also will not put out any graphics whilst the PCI CCTV capture card is installed.

The card does not cause the same behavoiur on other machines.

    Any ideas?

    TIA

    Jarv

There should be an option in the BIOS for setting the primary graphics adapter, have you tried changing this from PCI (default) to AGP (for with the additional AGP graphics card)?

Re: Abit-AV8 With CCTV Capture Card

Sorry - my mistake - not using on board graphics, just a selection of AGP cards. Sounds like this PCI/AGP priority thing is the first thing to try - however I cannot see which menu in the BIOS is responsible for setting this?

Having researched am i right in thinking that perhaps I might need to upgrade the BIOS to access this level of config, or perhaps anything else? Currently there is nowhere obvious to find this setting.

    Cheers

    The option is:

    Init Display First:
This item selects to initialize AGP or PCI Slot first when the system boots.
[PCI Slot]: When the system boots, it will first initialize PCI.
[AGP]: When the system boots, it will first initialize AGP.
    Quote from the AV8 manual.
