with a ups, or just pray the power doesnt go off while flashing. id say best way is to flash in windows, if the flash fails in windows you can keep searching for a nwe flash file or tool till the flash works. coz if you switch off it wont turn back on

Never flash in windows a floppy boot disk is the safest method.

alot of people say that but Ive flashed a large number of mobos prob over 100x in windows and never had any probs, but have to agree that a floppy-based flash is the safest

...hell Ive even flashed the firmware of a Sony DVD player over IR while carefully holding my laptop in front of it with the IR port facing the DVD player oh the joys of firmware madness

Re: Best way to flash AB9 QuadGT BIOS ?

well i flashed in dos before and it failed, seeing as i only had one pc and this was at night i decided to reboot and try to go find a new flash bios. had i been in windows i could have easily gotten another and retried or i could have defaulted to the normal one by getting the file off the site.

i still dont understand why mobo makers dont put a 2nd non flashable bios on the mobo, which you can use as a backup incase you mess the first. at least then we dont need to send the mobo for a rma to get it reflashed.

    some do.
& the vast majority of abit mobos have removable BIOS chips so you don't have to send the whole mobo away - just replace the BIOS chip (& then you'll have a spare if you hotflash the old).
