What is the current bios on your board.
How are you currently updating the bios dos or windows?

I have done both DOS and Flash Menu in windows. However as you appear to have some instability I would go for a dos flash.

Although it refers to the NF7 the procedure is the same.

If you are tempted by the Windows method via FlashMenu ensure you uncheck the BootBlock under settings in Flashmenu.

Re: Need Help With My Ab9 Quad Gt

i have not yet installed windows on this computer yet, is that the problem? i try to install windows but near the beginning of the setup it just switches off then i need to wait a couple of mins before i can switch it on again ( if i do straight after it just switches off again straight away). is this a thermal related problem or is it the power supply. i doubt its the temperature as its only on for about 2 mins max and there is three fans running.

Wrong, my rma board from scan shipped with bios 10 and although the bios reported it incorrectly and ran it at 1.8ghz ( I think) I could boot into windows and flash the bios using flashmenu.

1st thing to check is that your RAM voltage is set to that recommended by the manufacturer.

Can you post your full system specs ie Ram type make speed, PSU Brand model CPU Heat Sink..

If it is shutting down immediately then check all cables are correctly seated, that the CPU heat sink is correctly installed.

As Buff has said check that you have set the RAM voltage in the bios to your RAMs rated voltage.

To me from your posts it could be the CPU Heat sink dose not have proper contact with the cpu and is shutting down. Check your temps in the bios if it gives enough time before it switches off.

i tryed replacing the psu and still the same, i checked to see if the heatsink had proper contact and i dont think it did. the reason why it was going off was because the processor was getting too hot. i reseated it and now its fine. thanks drat. wish i checked the cpu before i bought another psu lol

No problem M8, glad it sorted the problem out. If I were you I would keep an eye on the temps over the next few days to ensure they are stable.

At least you have a back up PSU now

I presume that is on the Stock Intel Cooler? If so temps arnt bad, is that from the uGuru utility?

If you have a few spare quid in your pocket grab one of these with some decent CPU goop

Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK

Nice and quiet cools better than stock cooler.
