    IP35 Utility CD problem

When I run the Motherboard Driver&utility CD to check for Bios updates , it won't run , starts detecting device then comes up with an error ( Error occurred in WritePortVal!, ErrCode:6 ) , and also ( ReadPortVal!, ErrCode:6 )

Im totally stumped as to what todo, if I re-install windows will this problem still be there so I won't be able to install the drivers?

    Re: IP35 Utility CD problem

can you transfer files from the PC that you are acessing the net on e.g. by USB memory stick?

If so you can download drivers etc. from Universal abit > Motherboard, Digital Speakers, iDome, AirPace, Multimedia
tbh you'll probably get later versions of the drivers for the chipset, LAN & audio from the respective component supplier's site.

    Re: IP35 Utility CD problem

can you confirm whether the problem is with installing utility /drivers off the CD or running the utility once installed into the OS?

    Re: IP35 Utility CD problem

I bought the system 9days ago , everything should be up and running so the drivers are already in , ive just been having issues with games freezing so I decided to see if I could update the bios, so I ran the utility CD.
It starts autorun displays a message that its detecting device then comes up with the error.
So it doesn't even start the program.
On my other PC the CD runs fine detects device then brings up the 'abit utility menu'

    Re: IP35 Utility CD problem

I have been facing the same problem, I have the same motherboard with a Quad 6600 CPU and a 8800 GT graphics card. it occurs AFTER the drivers have been installed on the OS.

    Re: IP35 Utility CD problem

i would always download the latest drivers anyway rather than use the CD provided, if your reinstalling XP might need the sata drivers depending which option your running. Vista will install np, or should.

Angry Re: IP35 Utility CD problem

OK, so this is kind of an old thread, but there seems yet to be a resolution. This is unfortunate, since I was hoping to find some cause and or solution. I'm having the identical problem. That darn ReadPortVal/WritePortVal error. I was wondering if you'd tried installing uguru off the site. I'm having a problem with that as well. It installs, but won't run. Could this be the a symptom of the same issue? So far, everything seems stable. Only Abit software won't run.

This doesn't seem to be an isolated issue.

For the drivers I would like to recommend you to download the latest ones from the website, always better.

The IP35 hasn't got uGuru, so you won't be able to install the uGuru software.

Your "Mys System" says that you have a Pro so try ftp://ftp.abit.com.tw/pub/download/u.../uguru3109.zip

    Re: IP35 Utility CD problem

Buff's right. I have the pro, so uGuru is an option. Unfortunately, I have tried the downloadable version of uGuru to no avail. The program installs but won't run. The original cd gives the afore mentioned errors and I am already running the latest update of the bios. None of this matters now, anyway, because I am now getting a disk read error. This is the second drive to crap out in this rig.

    Re: IP35 Utility CD problem

Sorry forgot all about this thread.

I re-formatted and re-installed Windows XP and the drivers, everything then worked fine.
The utility CD ran with no problems.
The only problem I found through 'memtest' was that I had a faulty memory stick which needed rma.
