    Just a quickie on the IP35 ...

Anybody know any news on when BIOS v14 may be due out please?

Getting fed up of this double-boot crap and decided not to put the v13 BIOS on due to the possible problems ....

    Ta!

& presumably you don't want the 14 beta (or indeed the 13 beta which was better than 13 final)?

I don't mind beta's (never actually found a problem with one yet!) but I'd heard the v13 beta had 'issues' ? I know you can't guarantee but in your opinion is the v14 beta ok? (And have you got a link to it please if the answer is 'yes'!)

Re: Just a quickie on the IP35 ...

well........I just DLed version 13 not knowing it had "issues." I simply used the FlashMenu LiveUpdate utility and there it was. Now the my memory is set to DDR2 666, which was at 800 where it was before by default, and I can't get rid of the "CMOS checksum error - defaults loaded" message. I tryed clearing the CMOS all the different ways, including unplugging the ATX connectors and letting is sit without a battery and jumpered in the clearing position.

This is my second night with this PC and last night was the NO POST NO BEEP NO VIDEO issue till about 5am. Then this morning it tryed one of my 2-2GB sticks of corsair ddr2 800 (4GB kit) on the 4th position alone and it worked, but it didn't work with both, or the other one alone (I think its a bad stick which I find unusual).

What do I do if my PC never recovers from "Lucky" version 13? What are my options? Do I have to wait till Monday to "order" another BIOS? And why should I have to pay for something like that?

Re: Just a quickie on the IP35 ...

Don't know if it helps, but when I 1st had the board I had to clear the CMOS several times before it kicked in to action. If I remember correctly, it was about 6-7 times and suddenly it started to splutter in to life. Rebooted at that point and everything ran normally.
I cleared the CMOS simply with the jumper rather than any other way.

Re: Just a quickie on the IP35 ...

the problem with final BIOS 13 is that it seems to limit the Vdimm available to something like 1.9V - no matter what you select above it you always get the same actual voltage (jaov2k this may well be your problem with 2 DIMMs, not enough voltage).
    I don't remember 13 beta having issues - certainly not that 1.

Afaik 14 beta is getting good reports from users.

Well, 14 on and no problems so far ... crossing fingers! And no more double boot
Now got to try and sort out my case though as it seems to be restricting the airflow too much. Idle temps with the case side off are about 35° - with the side on they rise to 45-47°. Not good

Re: Just a quickie on the IP35 ...

just a follow up to my issue down below.

I wasn't hitting the delete key fast enough to catch the BIOS prior to the error freezing my computer. So the next time i rebooted i simply spammed the hell out of delete. Loaded optimized setting, F10, DRAM was at 800. problem solved. OH and i did go back to Fry's and exchanged my memory for another 4GB kit....installed, worked right away.

I considered upping the voltage to 2.0V cause I tought it might be low, but I currently have it set to auto and it shows 1.8 (the stamped voltage on the module)

Secondly, I havn't had any issue, that seems obvious with ver 13. My double boot went away and my voltages seems fine. I use the abitEQ software and it tells me RAM is at 1.95volts. Not sure why its different from BIOS, unless I'm looking at two different things or simply reading them wrong.

Long story short: Everything is stable and I'm happy; other than a bad memory module that I exchanged easily. I'm very happy with my mobo and the current BIOS release.

read what I said about BIOS13 & no matter what you set you always get the same actual voltage?
