    IP35-E + 8200 = constant reboots

    Hi,
I've just put everything together with a new PC, and it keeps rebooting. I get spinning fans for about 6 secs, then the PC powers down, and immediately powers up, fans spin, powers down, power up, fans spin........

I have a horrible feeling that this is a BIOS problem, but I've got no way of checking as I have no access to another S775 CPU. Has anyone managed to get this working?

I've removed everything from the system, even including the RAM, and graphics card, but I still get the same symptoms.

    Good point!

    # 520W Corsair HX Series Modular PSU, ATX, EPS12V, whisper quiet, 5 year warranty
    # Coolermaster RC-330 V2 Elite Black Midi Tower Case w/o PSU (New Improved Version)

But all that's connected is the CPU, PSU, Mobo and 1 stick of RAM.

I've even disconnected everything appart from the CPU, mobo and PSU and I still get the same problem.

OK, start with only 1 DIMM installed plus CPU & gfx.
make sure that the main 20/24-pin ATXPOWER & the 4/8-pin ATX12V1 are connected plus an rpm sensing fan connected to CPUFan1.

    Hi Buff,
Cheers for the advice, but I already tried that, and I get the same symptoms. Any other ideas?

I have seen this before, give this a try.

Remove all power conections and place the ccmos jumper to the clear position. Also remove the battery and leave like this for 10-15 minutes.

Then simply connect everything back up and give it a try.

I just replaced my mobo with an IP35 (not Pro or E). My system also powers down like yours but fortunately stays on and boots up properly. Until I read your post I thought that the Off-On was due to the strain I was putting on my PSU with my 7 HDDs all starting at once but I see you only have one HDD in your system.

Isnt this just a 'bug' with with P35 chipsets? Im sure i have read this before and a BIOS flash sorts out the problem.

that's the normal P35 strap setting - if you update your BIOS it will go away (except if you remove all power incl. standby from it when you shutdown in which case it will do it on 1st boot after reapplication of power).

    Re: IP35-E + 8200 = constant reboots

Looks like it must just have an old BIOS, I went and bought the cheapest CPU I could find - Celeron 420, and it boots fine. Now to reflash the BIOS......

    Re: IP35-E + 8200 = constant reboots

I know I'm digging this thread up but I was wondering if a celeron even works with this mobo. I am having the exact same problem. I have the ip35e board and an e8400. I cannot even get bios to load. It will not post screen at all. If the celeron can work so that i can fix the bios I will definitly invest 39 bux to do so on newegg.
