    usb issues with IP35PRO

just bought me an IP35 but it has given me no end of problems i stipped down my ASUS P5N that was fully functioning with no problems and used all the parts for this new board as you do the board booted 1st time no issues thought it was going to be a simple build which it should have been went straight through the post got to windows log on and the mouse that had been working had now stopped and there was no power to the reciver which i thought was strange as id already configured the bios but decided to go back in and try some other settings after trying every concievable combination of setting nothing changed and every wired ,wireless mouse and keyboard i had in the house which was alot bluetooth/ifrared you name it i tried it nothing worked.

i even tried a number of times just letting it sit at the logon screen to see if it would pick it up but it never did would just give me a bluescreen and reboot after messing for close on 6 hours i decided enough was enough and stripped it down and rebuilt my ASUS that booted up 1st time straght into windows with the wireless mouse and keyboard ive always used(didnt work on the Abit) and never had any trouble with its always worked with every pc ive tried it in and thats without drivers.

What annoys me the most is there was no reason at all for this weird problem and i still dont understand what the problem was now the board is back in the box and im waiting for a rma from scan also the southbridge heatsink wasnt sitting flush onthe chip and i wasnt going to start pulling the sinks off and trying to straghten them. This has pretty much put me off Abit

& the point about your rant was?
you don't seem to have asked for any help before packing it up?

was it a clean Windows install or did you just carry it over from your P5N?
If it was a clean Windows install there is a known MS problem where installing the Intel chipset drivers can result in USB not working (this isn't just on abits or P35s)- there is an MS knowledge base article about it.
& if it wasn't a clean install well, it should have been

Personally, I much prefer my IP35 Pro to my P5N-E.

    Re: usb issues with IP35PRO

There is known issues with usb drivers that would have been good if id installed any drivers my keyboard worked which was usb on the same reciver no matter what i used in what usb port there was nothing i even tried booting a acronis boot disc just to see if there was mouse in that but there wasnt i tried every mouse i had and it never worked there was nothing i could do.

I wanted this board i hate sending stuff back its aggro i dont need. Have you ever messed with somthing thats that frustrating and nothing works you feel like smashing it i built this it was a totally flawless build with no issues turned it on and got the post beep and it all fired up this should have been it apart from the apps but no it was trouble. what i wanted was somone to shed some light on what may cause this problem if somone could give me some ideas i may have had another go it wasnt a rant.

It certainly came across as a rant to me.

If you could perhaps slow down a bit & post a coherent, well structured account it would help others to possibly help you.
You still haven't said whether it was a clean OS or a carry over from the previous system.

The default setting in the BIOS is probably USB support by OS rather than BIOS.

    Re: usb issues with IP35PRO

Yeah, I always change it to BIOS before even a first boot. But mostly, I admit, because sometimes they don't recognise a USB KB in time to get into the BIOS.

    Re: usb issues with IP35PRO

i sent it back and its been found to be faulty thanx for all your help but as i thought when i took it to bits theres somthing wrong. Just to put minds at rest it was a clean build no carrying over of the OS that the first thing you learn as a pc tech also the first thing you always do is go into the bios and change settings i changed usb to legacy setting the keyboard always worked it was mice that always played up also set my ram timmings which caused a long beep cycle (memory beep by most bios manufacturers). This board seemed to show a lot of faults i always worry they may have been damaged in transit the box doesnt have to show any signs.
