    Hello again Mike,

    Just so Buff is aware.

Your supplier is couriering a new board to you today and collecting the faulty board, so no need to try and fix the problem board.

    regards
    Nathan

    Hi Mike,

It could be a BIOS issue. Your board might have an "outdated" BIOS which hasn't got support for the 45nm CPU's. Please drop an e-mail to support@u-abit.eu with your address so that we can send you a new chip with the latest BIOS version on.

Please explain that you have an E8400 and a board that has got an outdated BIOS probably.

ive tried most of the advice given on the 49 pages of comment on this board from this forum on the Fatal1ty Fp-in9 in my opinion i bought this board a year and a half or so after release and it has not got the support it has needed through any 1 of the bios updates. Ive tried 1.0 to the latest 1.6 the only bios to work for overclocking my E4500 is 1.3 and this is old and does not give proper temps cpu 1 43c cpu2 79c and thats stock sets but it unlocks the oc ability i had 3.3 on intel cooler. But on bios 1.3 seems to wreck my windows to the point that it keeps hanging and when u try to reinstall xp it hangs again so at the moment i cant install windows and then the pc lights up on the mobo but wont give out a signal ive tried my parts in another pc all ok so must be a problem on board mobo or with bios 1.3 but if i change bios to 1.6 again i cant oc and windows will install ok very strange board with lots of problems this board was sold as oc able but infact its a lottery if u can and thats not good enough to do this to a customer group who have bought this pruduct as a result of statements made by the manafacturers of quality is appauling im seriousley thinking of a refund and diffrent board itsto much hassle with this board

    Hi Smokedog,

First, it is pretty hard to read your post. Try to use some more paragraphs and punctuations. Then it will be much easier to read your post and help you out.

On the other hand the FP-IN9 SLI is not really an overclocker. It comes with the Nvidia 650i chipset and it hasn't got the Guru chip onboard.

You also might to give us some more information. Only "I can't OC" isn't enough for us to help you out.

    Re: Fatality FP IN9 SLI

agreed its very hard to read.

I have the FP9-SLI board as one of my spare boards, and the same problems came up with me ,using a wolfdale 8500! A BIOS flash cured the problem, remember to FLASH using MS-DOS this is the SAFEST WAY. Do not flash using the windows abit flash utility. Remember not only a flash would be needed, but somtimes even using different switches will help like /f for instance.

The 650 chipset in particular not just abit but ALL board makes was a poor chipset in my opinion, for overclocking at least.

Please write using paragraphs, as looking at your post gave me a headache, and its really difficult to solve your board problems then

    Re: Fatality FP IN9 SLI

Hey, I just purchased thos motherboard and imm having a hell of a problem with it. I am using a navida 8600 gt, will use 2, but 1 to set up first, 2gigs of ddr2 by OCZ and a 580 wat power supply. I start it up, about 25-30 seconds after going on it simply shuts off. Ive tested the mem and psu and they work fine.

I checked all the power connections and whatnot, please help, as imm using my sis's pc and despertly need to get my rig up. I have a brand new WD 500gb HD, and want to put xp pro on it, however cant even get that far, after looking brieflly at the bios set up, it shuts down, please help, thanks.

It helps others to help you if they know exactly what you are dealing with.
Please supply a full system specification incl. make & models.
If you put it in your sig. or "my system" then you only have to do it once.

However, the fact that it shuts down after 25-30 seconds sounds like something (probably CPU) is overheating.
The stock Intel hsf retention system imo is a poor design & it's not uncommon for people to not install it properly.
