I'm tired of waiting, so I'm going to get the IP35 Pro XE instead. But will there be any real reason to upgrade to this IP45 Pro? Because from what I've heard, there's really only reason to go P45 if you're buying a new motherboard anyway.

Any word on whether uGuru BIOS fan control will now allow the selection of voltages under 8.0v (the limiti on the IP35-Pro) as I'd much prefer this to having to run the uGuru app in Windows to lower fan speed further?
It's great to see Abit officials in the forums, and thank you for the shots I was wondering if with these 4 series boards Abit would put an option in the bios to Disable the visibility of the guru chip in windows? (maybe i missed it but i can't seem to find one in the AW9D's bios).
Also do you happen to have any information on the ethernet and audio chip used on this board and the number of power phases for memory and north bridge?
I would imagine only of you want the dual x8 PCI-E 2.0 for Crossfire & the 8 phase PWM probably means less Vdroop/slightly higher OC on quads.
you can select 6.0V using the Windows GUI on the IP35 Pro.
Not quite sure that I'm understanding you but you can already either not install/use the Windows GUI or elect not to have it start on Windows start?
Indeed I can, however I'd prefer to let the BIOS handle it alone, without having to run the Windows GUI.Originally Posted by BUFF
Have never been sure why it's not implemented as such.
To be honest there is no real point in upgrading from a IP35 Pro or XE to a p45, unless you just wish to squeeze that little bit extra out of your CPU. As you may or may not know the P45 will be the LAST board with the Socket 775, so with the Nehalim generation we will all have to change our CPU's anyway to LGA 1333

IP45 Pro now on website so shouldn't be too long now.

Never realised before that it included power saving tech. similar to Asus & Gigabyte although it did look like that was going to be the next "must have" for the spec. list. so I'm glad that abit are there with it quickly.
Does this board squeal like the 35pro?
Have you ditched realtek 888?
Only 1 optical in/out - BOO! Does the phono spdif connector double as optical?
Cheers all.

Just seen the specs, so no spdif in.

Probably not, but there are plenty who have. Have a look on the US abit forum........
I should've sent it back as soon as I heard it.
Do you o/c?
It's worse when you do!

yes, it's been overclocked since day 1 which is over a year now.
I'm a Mod on the abit USA forum & it certainly doesn't strike me as normal - that's not to say that there may not be a few that do it but it's certainly not common.
Are you sure that it's the board & not the gfx card (certain gfx cards are well known for squealing) or an inadequate PSU?
Hi Buff,
The noise eminates from the Ps/2 controller!
Certain people have culled the noise by using cable ties to squeeze it together.
I have just pushed down on the top of mine, and the noise has gone!
I'll try a new PSU soon.
I have an eah3650 (asus) which is passively cooled.
