    AB9 Pro problems

I've been using an AB9 Pro for around 2 years now, and in the past 6 months I've started to have problems with returning from standby/occasionally booting. For some reason, the machine will boot fine for a couple of days and then fail to boot with a random BIOS error, although this seems to be CF more often noadays.

    I'm running the following system:

    Core 2 Duo E6600
    AB9 Pro with v1.4 BIOS
    HIS IceQ3 X1900XT
    2GB G. Skill 800MHz
    Tagan TG530-U15

I'm wondering if it could have been damaged in transit as I started university last October.

    Thanks for your help.

    Re: AB9 Pro problems

CF generally means that the clearCMOS jumper or switch is in the wrong position.
Check that, possibly try another jumper if the existing 1 isn't making good contact.

Your booting problems could also be symptoms of RAM or PSU problem.

iirc the last release BIOS for the AB9 Pro is 22 & there is a beta 23 around if you fancied a change.

    Re: AB9 Pro problems

I'd not thought about a PSU problem - I've not had any smoke/bad smells and the machine is completely stable when actually running, its only ever starting that gives a problem.

    Re: AB9 Pro problems

Sounds more like as Buff has suggested a short on the jumper. It has happened to me and took a lot of head scratching till I figured it out.

    Re: AB9 Pro problems

I'll take a look at it tomorrow and see whether there is anything there, perhaps switch it with a different jumper (what are the ones that aren't that important - I don't have any IDE drives, so is there one that can be nabbed from there?).
