ABit support and BIOS updates continuing?

I ask as there is a serious issue with the IX38 BIOS that needs addressing, yet it seems multiple messages about this issue - sent to ABit support from various people - have gone unanswered.

The current news about ABits position in the motherboard market, doesn't help to belay fears that this won't be fixed and many will be left with a rather expensive PCB.

The issue revolves around 4870x2 compatibility with BIOSes 13 and 14, as in, they are not compatible. Black screen, no boot, error 7F on the LED display. Downgrading to any BIOS previous to that results in no support for x.5 multipliers - not good for Yorkfield and Wolfdale owners.

So, are ABit letting these messages go into a black hole or are they planning to support their current userbase for a decent length of time?

Angry Re: ABit support and BIOS updates continuing?

Glad to see that i am not the only one.
I am very annoyed with Abit right now...
Firstly, i cannot for the life of me register with their forum... never receive activation email.
Second, their tech support is non existent..

I too have filled out their tech support form regarding 4870x2 issues, requesting a new BIOS to support this card... all have gone un-answered.. very, very dissapointing.

I originally purchased a Nvidia 9800GX2 card with plans to purchase a second one for SLi... When i discovered that this was not possible, i sold it for next to nothing and waited for the 4870x2 to be released. I purchased one with plans to purchase a second card for Xfire, but now i cannot even do that !!!! What an absolute joke !! I have a Xfire board that cannot be used in either SLi orXfire..
I say SLi because originally the X38 chipset was suppose to be both SLi and Xfire compatible.. when those plans were ditched it was the first blow... the second blow now comes with lack of Xfire support for the HD4870x2 cards...

Not good Abit.... not good at all....

Re: ABit support and BIOS updates continuing?

Well, SLI simply doesn't work with Intel chipsets. Blame the Intel/nVidia battle for that, not abit. I don't know why the 4870x2's aren't working, but this isn't the first time I've seen it unfortunately.

FWIW, the abit forum email system has been broken ever since they moved the server to Taiwan. It doesn't appear they are going to fix it unfortunately. We're trying (mods), but they don't seem to be paying attention to us and it takes an administrator to fix.

You can either post your questions here or at the new Unofficial abit Tech Support forum hosted by The Raptor Pit. Several of those who frequent the abit forums have gone over there and set up shop (several of us are here as well of course.)
