Abit IP-35 - Strange beep on startup

Have just replaced the cpu to a WolfdaleE7300 on another pc I have and now on bootup I not only get a double boot, but a strange noise on bootup. It sounds very much that this sound/beep eminates from the motherboard.

The board has been flashed to the latest bios.

    Spec:
    Lian-Li case
    E7300
    Abit -IP35
    Corsair VX550 PSU
    2 x 1Gb OXZ memory
    Sapphire 2900HD
    300Gb Seagate

Any idea as to what this sound is? It doesn't affect getting into windows, but would like to know if its anything I should be concerned about.

Most likely it's your fan speed monitor going off whilst the fans are not quite up to speed. Does it happen almost as soon as you press the on button?

What do you mean by double boot?

Re: Abit IP-35 - Strange beep on startup

Would it sound like that then?

    What happens is this:
Press power button, it starts to boot, but then shuts down and reboots.
Then you quickly get that sound Upon which it then loads into windows.

Apparently this double boot issue was fairly common with earlier bios revisions with this board, but now its back.

Re: Abit IP-35 - Strange beep on startup

Strange... I've never experienced a double boot before.

I've got an IP35-pro, and I get a very brief two-tone (high pitch tone first, then lower pitch tone that quickly gets cut off) alarm noise just after I hit the on switch. In my instance, this is definitely the fan monitor alarm going off, because I can switch off the fan speed monitor and the alarm goes away on boot up.

Your problem sounds different... I guess the official ABIT boys will know what it's about.

I origially heard about it here regarding the double boot issue.

So the sound I get is exactly the two-tone sound you get then?

Re: Abit IP-35 - Strange beep on startup

No... as I said, mine starts with the high tone first... like if you reversed the order of the note pitches in your sound.

Why not have a flick through the BIOS and see if it is anything to do with the monitoring?
