Angry Any chance of releasing a PROPER SIGNED WHQL 64 bit driver for the Airpace

    ?

the drivers on the website are about a year old, not been updated and are NOT WHQL certified for 64 bit vista operating systems, yet it says it IS supported.

Are there any plans to actually release some proper drivers for it? I'm sick of having to F8 every time I start Vista just so I can access a wireless network. If there is a workaround that ACTUALLY works (BCD editing no longer works after SP1 security patches) and it's really beginning to annoy me as I got it for the pci-e and 64bit functionality but it just doesn't seem to want to work at all.

Re: Any chance of releasing a PROPER SIGNED WHQL 64 bit driver for the Airpace

The Airpace drivers are fine for 64 bit Vista.
The only problem i did encounter was that they didnt work by just installing?

After a fresh install, make sure you install them immediately.
    Do the chipset first.
    Do the Airpace drivers second.

I know its a PITA but it works very well that way.

    Tried that

Did chipset then the wireless card, might be something about SP1 as it's preinstalled on my vista retail edition of ultimats

Get a card not found error on the device, and I sometimes get an install error.

Re: Any chance of releasing a PROPER SIGNED WHQL 64 bit driver for the Airpace

This is typical of abit over the last couple years, not surprising. Other companies are much more responsive to needed driver/software updates. I'll give you an example...... there was a MSI TV card I installed in my fathers computer and earlier that same day we installed Vista on his machine, The TV card worked fine until we installed SP1 on the new Vista install. Off to MSI's web site I went and sure enough there was a new driver that fixed the problem. Now keep in mind that SP1 had just been released a week or so earlier.

Re: Any chance of releasing a PROPER SIGNED WHQL 64 bit driver for the Airpace

My main problem is that it is ADVERTISED as 64 bit compatible, but isn't unless you do the equivalent of standing on one leg rubbing your head and shaving with your free leg while sacrificing an animal on the off chance it should work, and that is BEFORE SP1. (and press F8 before startup to allow the badly signed drivers to install)

Its absolutely appauling, even more to consider I am now back on my old Edimax card, the drivers on the website were properly signed and it's installed and working without a fuss.

So it's 2 fingers to Abit from me, especially as their most recent driver is a years old.....and is an unfinished product. FFS they should at least have fixed the spelling mistakes in the installer, it's like a university student was rushing it out in time for a deadline, wait....a university student would probably still use a spellchecker.

most recent...and ONLY official driver. I shouldn't have to faff on the chipset manufacturer website to find the correct driver for an obscure code which might not even work.

I use a different driver to that one. It was direct from the ABIT FTP.
If i had some space to upload it to i would.

I will see what i can do for you (or someone post the FTP details).

Re: Any chance of releasing a PROPER SIGNED WHQL 64 bit driver for the Airpace

Just tried to get on the ABIT FTP so i could get you a link.
Unfortunately they have password protected it now (for some reason).

I will upload the driver and post a link when i get home.

ABIT.......its YOUR job to help with this.......just because you arent doing motherboards anymore, it seems as that is a green light to not care about your customers either.

They didn't really seem to care full stop as soon as they got my money, emailed them numerous times and just been ignored or the message was not read and they just sent some generic drivel back about how to install a driver for an idiot to do. I would understand but when I have told them I have already tried something numerous times and the tell me to do it again it takes the mic a bit....

    I agree.
I always bought ABIT as their service was good.
Now, even though its forced aswell, i am quite happy to go the ASUS route.

Although ASUS have poor CS, their board are superior to ABIT offerings. Now ABIT have lowered their CS to ASUS standards (or even lower), there is no reason now to buy ABIT anyway.

(Sorry for the ABIT bash .......... but they are now that poor.........its frustrating)

Hell at least Asus release updates for their products

People would go ape if MS released unfinished and not working software and never fixed it.
