it will run but don't expect to get much of an oc out of it.
personally I would suggest a 9850 Black instead as better value.
it was only £2 more for 9950 than 9850 so i picked 1 up yesterday , aint got around to fitting it though yet
Hi, can i know the outcome? How is the 9950BE performing on the ax78 mobo? Planning to get one for my ax78 as well.
mine was working fine till yesterday , but been having problems with pc cutting out when playing games + only way to get it back up was to either remove powerlead or switch the on / off switch to off psu for 5 secs
Hey mate got some help for ya with that.
I got my ax78 back in november and was running the 8450 tri core and the same crashing was happening to me. I tested graphics card, ram, psu, everything posible. in the end I upgraded to the 9950 in hope of solving the problem and same issue. Here what you need to do:
When starting the computer, on the bios screen down the bottom right should be a line of numbers. This tells you your bios version. it should end in -12 , which means your bios is version 12. if you cannot see these numbers, enter your bios and the same row of numbers will be up the top next to your cpu speed. all tri cores and quad cores need version 13 to run properly ( according to a graph I found on the abit website ). Go to the abit website, beneith the download tab with be BIOS, click it, find the ax78 under the AM2 tab and look for version 13 bios.
You then need to use 2 floppy disks. make a boot disk from one ( in A drive in my computer, right hand click and select properties, then tick the box that says something like MS-Dos Boot Disk ). then with the other put the updated bios on. selected the bios to boot 1st off the floppy disk, then once dos has booted, insert the bios floppy and follow the instuctions.
Hope that all works out, theres plenty of instructions on updating bios on the net if mine wernt good enough.
On another note, my ax78 came with a bad driver cd. I basically had to go to the abit website and redownload all of them. also, dont install cool n quite, waste of time and only slows your computer.
and finally, im running my 9950 at 2.9ghz but am not noticing any difference in performance. do I need to tweek voltage?
Cheers
i already been using bios 13
