Just updated microcode with all new versions of it for prescott 0f49 , 0f41, 0f33, 0f34. Old processor is working fine. I will put Prescott in motherboard anyway. I would like to ask what will hapend even if it is still unsupported. Will it all blow up or just would not boot.

    Re: Abit TH7II-raid

    Just bought Northwood 2.8/478/512/533
If works 3.16Ghz for now, everything is ok for now, it is cool even if overclocked and northbridge too 150MHz.
Well that is nice. for old pc. This CPU can even up tp 4GHz. Do not know how to reduce RdRam Multiplier.

Need this Pc for multiplayer games when friends come to me.

    Re: Abit TH7II-raid

    Extereme failure
    happend to my pc.

Do not know what it is.

It become unstable and restarted few times, then i pressed shud down to reset it. After 3 seconds i pressed power on and NOTHING......

First i tought it is Northwood sudden dead sindrome, but then i plug in my Wilmate 1.5GHz and it was the same, so Northwood 2.8 is probabbly ok.

    Sympthoms are:

Motherboard is in stand by, green led on it is lighting.
When you press power on, nothing happens.
    Cpu cooler is not spinning
    Psu cooler is not spinning
    Absolutely nothing is happening.

Could it be capacitors are old?

could be but it could also be that your PSU has failed.

    Re: Abit TH7II-raid

Just pluged in old psu and it is the same.

So problem is probbably in motherboard.

Few hours before it went down i pluged in x1950 pro agp.
But i forgor to put white agp lever which hold card in place.
When you move lever card moves a little bit too, so i am thinking could it be that card was not proerly pluged in agp port and cousing short circuits?
Is there any evidence of not properly pluged card burning motherboard.

After all there is green stand by led on board which is lighting.

I was using x1950 before, but i used another and i switched cards.

What should be done to capacitors if they are old

    Re: Abit TH7II-raid

I'm not familiar with that PSU.

you can visually inspect the board to see if any caps are swollen & leaking.
If they are you can either toss the board or replace the affected caps if you are very handy with a soldering iron or willing to pay someone to do it for you.

    Re: Abit TH7II-raid

Just one more question for this board.

Because i bought new psu for it, fwe months ago, psu didnt had axu conector, so we cut it from old psu and put it on new psu, where sata power connector was.

If itis badly connected could it be that baord would not stard because of that.
What will happend if there is no aux power connector in board. Would it start up?
