Any use Windows 7 64 bit?

I tried installing windows 7 64 bit on my IX38 Quad GT and I get a blue screen of death very early on during the installation and gives the message

    MULTIPROCESSOR_CONFIGURATION_NOT_SUPPORTED

    I have an e8600 processor.

Has anyone had any success using Windows 7 64 bit and an ABIT board, and if so what is your setup?

Looks like a known issue - is this the RC or the RTM build of W7? Most likely a bios/board issue

I think it's the RC, taken from the microsoft site a few days ago. What is the RTM build?

Re: Any use Windows 7 64 bit?

Aha I see. Well this is the file.

    7100.0.090421-1700_x64fre_client_en-us_retail_ultimate-grc1culxfrer_en_dvd

From a bit of googling on RTM I see 7600 is the RTM build, but it looks like that hasn't been officially released by MS.

So maybe I could go the unofficial route just to see if I can get it working... hmmm

Re: Any use Windows 7 64 bit?

check what im using left. and im also on 64bit RC atm. And yes i got some huge isues with my abit board. the main pain in the neck for me is it keeps hanging in games. The game keeps playing then sudenly the screen becomes pixalated with pixels out of place etc and computer is frozen. and few others like c'n'q takes ages to change states so games end up laging badly

Re: Any use Windows 7 64 bit?

Just to let everyone know, I updated to the Windows 7 64 RTM build and it fixed my problem. Been using it for a couple of days now and haven't had any problems. Thanks for the help

Re: Any use Windows 7 64 bit?

I've also just found today that I can't flash the bios with Windows 7 installed. uGuru's FlashMenu doesn't launch even with DEP settings configured or compatibility modes... the only way I could boot to a cmd prompt was via my Win 7 install CD and AWDFLASH.exe isn't recognised as a compatible file

Re: Any use Windows 7 64 bit?

@hawkinsa21 You should be able to boot to a bios built in version of AWDFLASH on startup by pushing ALT+F2 on the first screen of the bios boot up.
