    Fatal1ty AN8-SLI

    Hello,

I have been running smooth for a few years with the above motherboard. Some weeks ago I started having issues with powering up and Bios set up. Comp was freezing at startup. Nonetheless disconnected all peripherals and come to find out it is the motherboard. I get postcode 50. I can't get into bios because of the USB problem. Thought I was smart by plugging a keyboard with PS/2 connection. That didn't work either. Can anyone help me fix this? Or is it a lost cause?

    Thanks

are all your usb peripherals disconnected?
could something be shorting out a connector?

yes, when they are all disconnected I get to the prompt screen and the MB show's the 7F. But can not get to the BIOS to configure start up (Hard Drive). When a usb or the PS/2 is connected I get the 50 code.

OK, 7F means that the BIOS is waiting on some input from you (e.g.. hitting F7 to continue).
are you using an USB keyboard via PS/2 adapter or a proper PS/2 kb?
Some USB keyboards won't get enough power from a PS/2 port to work.

had you made any recent hardware/peripheral changes before you started to get this problem?
what BIOS version are you running & what CPU?

yes, but when I plug in my keyboard nothing. And if I reboot with the keyboard in I get the 50 code.

Sorry to answer your question. I was using a keyboard with a USB connection. When I kept getting the error code 50 I thought I could get around it by useing a keyboard with a PS/2 connection. That didn't work either. By the way the keyboard with the USB had been working before. Also, I had not installed any new hardware or software.

so it is a proper PS/2 kb & not an USB kb via PS/2 connector?

Yes, I tried the keyboard with the usb connection. When that didn't work I tried one with the PS/2 connection, which didn't work either.

Yes, I have cleared the CMOS with no change. It is an AMD CPU I think 3200 can't remember. I don't know what bios version I have.

    Re: Fatal1ty AN8-SLI

my system freezes at boot up (when it does that memory-check/count thingy where it says after how much memory there is, where in my case is 4024mb) too

but when it does, all i do is disconnect my usb wireless keyboard... so im assuming there's something to do with certain usb connected devices.. try that o:
