ABIT IP35 PRO - Multiple BIOS Errors

My computer has been running excellent for the last year and a half, I was running Windows 7 x64 "evaluation version" until last week, which at that point, had access to Windows 7 Professional, through MSAA website. Regardless, of the Operating Sytem. I shut my computer down this morning, came home at the end of the day, and attempted starting up my computer.

It cycled up to about post code 90, then to 99, and shut itself off, all within the time of the GPU and CPU fans turning on, then proceeding to restart itself about 1.5 seconds later. Being puzzled by this, I decided to try a few things I've read on a couple sites, including swapping my 8-pin connector with the 4-pin, yielding no different results.

I then undid everything, minus the 4 pin, ram, that huge connector (24?), and tried to boot that way, when attempting this, I got error code 8.3, after like 4-5 seconds of it actually going, it hits 8.2, and shoots back to 8.3, almost instantly - over and over again.

I then presumed it was my PSU, so I attempted two other PSUs with the same result. It being worse with with the 600, as my main is normally a 650, because trying to plug in anything, especially the GPU yelled at me, and did a long solid ugly sounding beep.

I've tried resetting the cmos, via switch and jumpers.

Anyone have any suggestions, because it doesn't appear to be all my power supplies.

    Thanks for any help.

I'll get them posted when I get home after class. How can it be PSU, if neither of my 3 PSUs are working?

Re: ABIT IP35 PRO - Multiple BIOS Errors

well, if none of your PSUs are working then obviously it's a PSU problem ... try with a working PSU

but atm we don't know what you are trying to power & with what ...

    ABIT IP35 Pro Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.0 Ghrz Processor
    4x 1 GB G. Skill (DDRII) F2-6400CL4D-2GBHK (4-4-3-5 Timing) Ram
    NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT PCI-E

    PSU:
*Antec Truepower Trio (650 Watt) - Model: TP3-650
    Ultra WIN-600PS (600 Watt)
    Antec NEO480 (480 Watt)

    ===

In leiu of buying another 600 watt PSU, but doubtful that i'll notice any difference, as I know my other PSUs work, as I yanked them out of other computers in the house. I will try the new PSU when it comes in, albiet, do you have any other suggestions to try in the mean time? Would a different outlet matter?

I'm sure you are right about it being power, considering you've had so much experience helping people, it's just hard for me to believe. Hopefully, this power issue, hasn't harmed any of my other hardware, as I can't really afford replacing a motherboard or cpu at the moment.

Re: ABIT IP35 PRO - Multiple BIOS Errors

OK, whilst troubleshooting you want to run with only 1 DIMM.
& of those 3 PSUs the 1 that I would pick would have been the Antec 650 as I presume the Neo 480 is quite old & in the past Ultra have had a bit of a hit or miss reputation for PSUs.

if the GPU made a noise it's because it wasn't getting enough power - you did have the 6-pin connected at the time?

I have been attempting to run it with 1-stick. I'll give you an update in like 5 days when my new PSU is in.

Re: ABIT IP35 PRO - Multiple BIOS Errors

New PSU, still the same effect (hits 83, stays for a few seconds, flashes over to 82 for a split second, goes back to 83, process repeats a few times - then after about 4-5 repetitions the computer reboots itself and continues the cycle), put all ram back in, still same effect (computer starts the gpu and cpu fans, hits 83 and goes to a 99 post code - all within a few seconds)

    So, any new suggestions?

I fixed it. In lieu of that, built me a server - Windows 2008 server enterprise installed. Good stuff.

Re: ABIT IP35 PRO - Multiple BIOS Errors

Did a few things, had put all my RAM back in, cleared the CMOS for the 4th time, cleaned the board of like 8 lbs of dust bunnies, all my hardware was back in as well. Just turned on power, hit the power button, and voila, it worked. ;D
