Abit IP35 pro killed my PSU?

Hi was upgrading from Abit AB9 Quad GT to IP35 pro and found I was getting a 0.1 error in red and it would not boot anything. So I read on the forums that it may be incompatible with my PSU which is a Tagan 530W. So cut my losses and thought I'd send the board back now when i try and boot up with AB9 Quad GT, it won't boot giving error code 8.2 also and looking on forums a believe this to be compatibility problem too. It was working fine before my attempted upgrade.

Have you tried clearing the CMOS using the switch and starting again? I have simular "strange" problems with my IP35 Pro.

Re: Abit IP35 pro killed my PSU?

So anyone actually know what error code 0.1 is?

I tried going back to my old AB9 Quad GT until I can reslove the issue but now All iget is an error code 7F so I'm wondering if my PSU has failed and should order another one or is it the IP-35 board and RMA it.

Re: Abit IP35 pro killed my PSU?

Na sorted now for AB9 hit f1 and it worked but need new psu for IP-35 pro still get 0.1 error I think someone on abit forums told me it was because my tagan psu has 20amps rather than 24.

Re: Abit IP35 pro killed my PSU?

I am having exactly the same issues with a 480W Tagan TG480-U01 even though it has the 24 pins for the ATXPWR1 and the two P4 pins to make the ATX12V1.

In the end I took out the additional 4 pin to make the 20 pin connector for ATXPWR1 and just used the single 4 pin for the ATX12V1 and I got it to boot. Fingers crossed, it should be stable but I'm a bit disappointed that such a board would reject all the correct connections on a quality psu. I hope this won't cause issues when overclocking.

Re: Abit IP35 pro killed my PSU?

Update - now getting either 8.7. or 8.8. bios error code. I hate this board. It's nothing but grief with an E8400. I'm suspecting a PSU issue even though I finally got everything running stably at stock for a few days. 28A on the 12V rail should be plenty for this system. It's either that or the PWM chip has gone belly up on the board. /sigh.

I've read a lot of threads of people complaining about PSU compatibility with this board.

Re: Abit IP35 pro killed my PSU?

the most common reason for 8.7. is not having the ATX12V1 plugged in properly.
if you have an E8400 have you updated to 1 of the 16 beta BIOS (09 being the latest)?

Whilst you are getting it initially dialled in I also wouldn't run with 4 DIMMs as you will probably need to play with chipset voltages to get that right.

Yes, updated to v16 B09, bios. Only running with one dimm, although I've had it run fine with all four and the chipset voltage bumped from 1.25 to @1.35v. I''ve tried all combinations of psu leads. I'll go back again. Thx for the reply.

What I can't work out is it was fine for 3 days then FF threw a wobbly, so reset and now I'm getting these issues. Gonna build it outside the case again along with my old opteron/dfi setup to see if PSU is dying.

Re: Abit IP35 pro killed my PSU?

Strange. I have been running a Tagan 480W from day one with my Abit Ip35 Pro with not a single PSU related problem (and I have changed graphics card and memory in the meantime).

Are you sure there is an incompatibility problem with them?

There isn't. I'm running the exact same setup as Iranu - IP35 Pro and Tagan 480-U01. They run fine for me. Using the full 24-pin ATX connector with an 8-pin ATX12V1. ATX4P1 is disconnected.

Recently I had a couple of spontaneous reboots while running folding, but it seems to be a one-off as I couldn't replicate it and it's not done it before or since. So no idea what caused them but nothing to point the finger at the PSU as voltages and system temps are all fine.

Re: Abit IP35 pro killed my PSU?

What BIOS version are you using stroberaver? Nice to hear others have same PSU and working OK with all the connectors. I've just checked gfx card is ok and psu powers my older DFI fine.

I'm thinking it is either a short, bios has screwed up, something wrong with the power modulation to the chip or the chip itself. Just taken the cpu out and going to reseat it. I did notice the backplate for my TT Big Typhoon seemed awfully close to the soldering on the back of the board, some of which is quite tall and may have gone through the padding.

Re: Abit IP35 pro killed my PSU?

I'm on BIOS 14. Waiting patiently for a official, non-beta BIOS for the Wolfdale chips, and each week that I have to wait, I wish more that I'd never chosen Abit when I gather that I could've had an Asus that works.
