ABIT AL8 Ethernet Controller Driver Issue

I'm running WinXP Pro, Intel P4 3.2ghz with 3gb of RAM all on an ABIT AL8. (I know, a dinasaur in todays standards) Recently I got a bad virus that put me in a logon/logoff loop...Long story short and one huge migraine later I did a fresh reformat with WinXP Pro. Got everything loaded properly, partitioned and that whole bit. When it came time to load my Motherboard driver's Via the Drivers/Utilities disk that came with it....I COULDN'T FIND IT!! So I downloaded the drivers from another computer to a flashdrive, transfered them to my reformatted computer, installed them and all of them worked except for the Ethernet Controller driver(its the driver that the ABIT site suggests v82710) Anyone have any ideas? A way to get a driver that works? To possibly make the driver from the site work? Could I possibly be doing something wrong? Or does anyone have a Drivers/Utility CD for an ABIT AL8 I can borrow with the uGuru utility on it as well? I dont't have that either. : )

Yep, that loaded and is working perfectly. Thank you for the uGuru link. Now, if I could only get my ethernet controller driver to work. The one from the ABIT website still isn't loading properly and I can't seem to find anything different.

I am also facing similar problem and when i tried installing the link you gave in this reply. it installed a uguru utility manager i think....can you please suggest me the way further to install my ethernet driver....mother board is same abit al8...

You'll have to find out what model the LAN chip itself is, so we (or you) could look for drivers.
I know for sure it's made by Broadcom, but I couldn't find out what model it is (they're usually called "BCMxxxx")

If you could tell us what's written on the chip (the line starting with "BCM..."), I could look for a driver. What OS you're running (XP/Vista/7 ; 32/64 bit) is pretty important too..

edit: Found it! It's a BCM5789, according to this pic found on a TechPowerUp review.

Vista drivers (32 and 64Bit) are available on the Broadcom website (link), but if you're running XP, you'll have to make due with older versions, as Broadcom ignorantly doesn't supply any XP drivers anymore (even for old LAN chips).

Here's an older driver, supporting Win98/ME/2000/XP/2003 (XP and 2003 even in 64Bit). It's quite ancient (2005) but should work nevertheless..

edit2: appears that I was wrong. Broadcom does still host XP drivers, but the link is anything but easy to find, as it's not underlined or in a different color.

Had to manually installed this driver through the hardware manager.....thanx a lot...
