    Ip35 Pro post 9.0 help

    Hi all,

    I sold my two year old IP35 PRO on ebay last week and the buyer has received it.

    However, when the buyer is powering up the board it is stalling at the 9.0 post and can't access the bios. The buyer knows what he is doing, he's tried clearing the cmos etc and he's tried using different components of the following :

    cpu = e6600 and q6600

    ram = corsair CM2X1024-6400C4DHX and adata dd2-667. He has tried one ram of either at a time.

    gfx = 8800gt and 7200gs.

    psu = thermaltake tr2-470w and winpower atx-450.

    The post process goes through = 0.1 to 8.2 to 8.3 to 9.0 very rapidly. After about 5 secs - the motherboard restarts automatically with the code 9.9 and then goes to 9.0 again. He has connected speakers to the onbaord sound and he says there is a siren sound when he powers the pc on.

    Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be ?

    I used it without any problem for two years with an e8400, 4gb ram and an 8800gt and the corsair hx620 and I cleared the cmos and removed the battery prior to shipping.

    I also take it if it turns out to be a corrupted bios, then there would be no support from Abit to send out a new bios chip, as I i'm not sure if there is still an Abit support left.

    How well packaged was it? Is it at all possible it was damaged in transit? That's some really quite extensive troubleshooting there which suggests to me the mobo itself is the fault.

    Does it say anywhere in the manual what 9.9/9.0 actually means?

    Re: Ip35 Pro post 9.0 help

    Hi, it was posted in it's original packaging.

    The 9.0 post = Complete μGuru initial process
    AWARDBIOS take over booting job

    The 9.9 post = Complete power off sequence.

    Googling the 9.0 post includes this info on the 9.0 post =

    Complete µGuru initial processAWARD BIOS take over booting job 1. Power on -> Stop at 9.0.2. 0.0.-> 8.3. -> 9.0. Award BIOS initial stop processing1. OC too high2.BIOS dead 1. Clear CMOS2.Restore default setting for BIOS3. Replace BIOS chip4. Send to RMA at last

    Edit ---- forgot to mention in the op at the time of writing it that he can't access the bios ----

    Re: Ip35 Pro post 9.0 help

    If I recall correctly, Abit said they'd honour all warranties but seeing as this is an old board, I don't think that applies. (i.e. out of warranty).

    Personally I'd go down the BIOS chip route - is it possible to source them from anywhere?

    Re: Ip35 Pro post 9.0 help

    Hi again,

    Yeah, I think it was just a one year warranty with the board.

    I have no idea regarding the support. I see in 'abit nl' sig that the parts webshop is still available and i've also tried emailing the support in his sig.

    I still don't understand how the chip could go corrupt when it was fine for two year and then failing within a week of selling it and delivering it.

    I'm not sure how easy it is to replace the chip, as myself or the buyer has never doen it before.

    Re: Ip35 Pro post 9.0 help

    assuming that you are in Europe you could try abit Nl support which afaik should be around until the end of this year.
    alternatively there is probably someone selling them on ebay.
