IP35 Pro wont boot w/o CMOS clearing

    Hi Guys,

    I have the following system:

    Ip35 PRO, 2 X 2 GB Gskill ddr2, Corsair TX 750, MSI 8800 GT OC. E2140 (1.6) running at 3 Ghz all the time.

Since 2 weeks Iam facing a strange issue faced by others as well on this forum.

The CPU boots till indicator goes till 8.3. and heck stops there. I tried booting with only Mobo , CPU , GPU and fans connected. And this problem DOES NOT go away. The CPU swithces itself on/off/on... till I manually switch it off. Some times it switches off automatically after it tries a few attempts of this on/off/on thing.

The only way I can boot the CPU is to clear the CMOS which takes minimum 5 to 10 minutes for the jumper to be in other place. Once CMOS cleared the CPU boots well and Iam able to goto bios and overclock and all like a new board, at this time the SMPS voltages are ALL PERFECT.

After I switch the computer off and turn it back on, the problem persists. I have to again Clear the damn CMOS and boot again. The problem perisists even if I dont OC.

I tested the cmos battery and it showed 2.99 Volts, I replaced that as well with a new battery that shows 3.27 V. I am very sure there is not problem with my PSU.

I dont remember which version BIOS iam having as Iam typing this from office. But it seems to be latest I guess.

Thanks for your replies/help in advance.

    Regards,
    Vinay

Re: IP35 Pro wont boot w/o CMOS clearing

    Hi Guys,

If you see my last post I had the same issue, I had the 750 tx which has a single 12 V rail.

The problem is now solved. HOW? Coz the PSU was bad. the Power good voltage was at 4.2 V and obviously the Mobo wont boot.

Now Iam using a local temporary PSU, till I get my corsair repaired.
No problem at all with my cheap 50$ 7 year old PSU.

    Hope this helps.

Re: IP35 Pro wont boot w/o CMOS clearing

I had the same issue with a BeQuiet Darkpower Pro, something went "wrong" with the PSU.

Firstly it would intermittently start, then would require a cmos reset, then wouldnt start at all.

    Sometimes the IP35 kills PSUs

Even I think the same, somehow the mobo kills the PSU

THere is no way a Strong power horse like the 750 TX would just go bad in a year with just 1 cpu 1GFX and 3 HDD and a DVD etc.
