    Abit AX78 motherboard booting problems

I have this motherboard, it seems every time the computer enters sleep mode or sometimes when i switch it off it wont boot back up.

Everything switches on, the fans, Leds etc. I also get the POST code FF but the computer wont boot, nothing comes on the screen, it just stays on and then shuts off by itself. Pressing the "on" switch after does nothing.

The only thing to do is to continue to switch it on and off by pulling the plug from the PSU and hope that it will boot the next time you try.

I have searched the forums and it seems other have had this problem too.

Does anyone know if there is a solution to this?

    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for the reply

Hi i doubt it's the PSU, i am using an FSP 700W PSU, that should be plenty enough, the specs of the pc is pretty budget too, no component draw alot of power.

I know someone people had similar problem like the one i am haveing with this motherboard. I am just wondering if anyone ever found a solution.

Do you hear any MB beeping? Is the POST display static, or does it cycle through several POST codes?
The first thing, that comes to my mind, is: tired electrolytic capacitors, either on the motherboard, or inside the PSU (depends on the brand and quality of caps). Another issue could be poor soldering on the MB, I've seen it on my IP35-E. Check soldering on the back of the mainboard.
Simple things you can do: remove all components, dust it all off, check if it's working only with a few components. MB+CPU should beep, MB+CPU+one DIMM of RAM should beep differently. Add the video card as last component.

    Thanks for the reply,

I get FF POST code, which according to the motherboard manaul means the computer has checked everything and is now attempting to boot.

I will try what you suggest.
