    Two problems have acured

1 Cannot get anymore than 128 gig from a 320gig hard drive
2 No lan drivers on the CD which came with board

In fact search aBit site for drivers and they dont seem to have any..

The LAN drivers are included in the nForce4 chipset drivers. What type of hard drive are you using?

stewartrose, you've hit the 128GiB/137GB size limit in the ATA specification. Ensure that you have the latest BIOS for your KN8; I'm pretty sure that they ALL support 48-bit LBA, but just to be on the safe side. Also, I assume that you are using XP; you should really be using SP2 to gain support for disks larger than that. Ideally you should be using an SP2 install disk. If your install disk is NOT SP2, then I suggest using something like nlite to slipstream SP2 onto it.

Ah...OK, you need SP3 or later to enable support for 48-bit LBA; see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305098/en-us for details. The OS MUST be installed on the first partition on the disk which MUST be equal to or less than 137GB. You can still use nlite to slipstream the service pack if it's not already integrated onto your install CD; I'd recommend slipstreaming SP4.

As far as the chipset drivers are concerned, I'd forget the ones on the CD and just pull down the latest nForce platform drivers from http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/nforc...k_6.86_uk.html.

One of those I think is the Bios revsion I hope...are these uptodate or do i need to update it.

Ok next point you talk of slip steam, ha ha I know this is fast but it is not a jet engine, so whats this slip stream..

OK, deal with the last bit first. Your Windows 2000 CD should say on it whether it incorporates a Service Pack (it may say Service Pack 1, 2, 3 or 4). It would need to be SP3 or later to support 48-bit LBA (disk sizes larger than 137GB). If it isn't, you would need to obtain SP3 or later (I would suggest SP4, and even if the disk is SP3, I would still recommend implementing SP4). Slipstreaming is a process of incorporating service packs and/or drivers into a CD image that would not otherwise include them. nlite provides a simple user-friendly means of doing this. You need your 2000 CD, a CD burner, a copy of nlite (which is free), and a copy of Service Pack 4. You could also do with getting the Update Rollup, but SP4 should do for 48-Bit LBA support. nlite'll walk you through creating the slipstreamed image, which you can then burn to a CD. It should create an ISO image; your CD burning software's help should cover burning a disk from an ISO image.

BIOS-wise, it wouldn't hurt to update to the later BIOS, available HERE. There're also instructions for flashing the BIOS.

No, you don't need to - that's for existing presets from previous nlite builds. Click "next", and click "integrate a service pack". Then click "next" and use the "select button to navigate to the service pack you downloaded.
