    Abit9 Pro error code 50/52

    Hi there,

My PC won't boot at all, everytime it starts up i can hear the single beep and than it hangs at code: 50 at times 52. All I get is the main screen saying hit delete to enter BIOS but no matter what key I hit nothing happens.

I tried to start it with only the CPU and Graphics Card, cleared the CMOS more than once but no luck. Can someone help me solve this?

I have Abit9 Pro, Intel 915 dual core 2.80GHZ, Asus extreme GC, Samsung Sata 250GB

    Thank you in advance

Have you recently flashed bios at all? Had a similar issue moving to the 1.5 bios, machine just hung at a set point - seemed to get stuck at 2A (which doesnt exist according to the manual )

    Hi ya,

Yes I did more than once, to be frank in the last week I managed to boot up only once after flashing bios. I did a fresh re-install of XP thinking it was some kind of driver issue, the PC rebooted fine untill I turned it off (had to xmas shop ) since it won't boot up. It hangs at 50 post screen (which according to the mobo manual doesn't exist either).
I am not sure if it is the mobo, or if it's a bios glitch. I have even tried to boot the mobo with only the CPU/GPHX connected to it but no luck..

    Any ideas guys?

50 is usually a USB initialisation problem - you may want to try disconnecting individual devices until you find the offending one.

    Hi there,

I tried but no luck. I seem to get it working if I dissconnect the front panel USB connectors and my IDE DVD/RW-R. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I've re-installed windows and for the last two days the PC worked fine. Today it did it again. It stops at post code 52, the keyboard is disconnected and I cannot hit any of the keys.

    Any ideas please?

Do you have a front panel USB port? Or any other usb devices plugged into the usb headers?

The only USB devices connected to the board are my mouse, and my keyboard but I use an USB -> PS/2 adapter to connect it.

Do you think the battery has anything to do with this? Because when I manage to boot the PC after I turn it off that's when I get this error. But if I clear the CMOS then it starts.

    Hi there,

I'm still having problems with my PC. I managed to get windows re-installed and haven't installed any other software/hardware yet. Updated windows, and bios(1.15) and new CMOS battery, the PC re-booted fine a few times. This morning the same old problem, it stops at post code 52.
I can only get the PC to boot if I clear the CMOS or take the battery out otherwise it wotn't. This error only apperars if the PC has been off for longer than an hour or so.

Can anybody help me with this please.

As suggested above, try a different bios. The 1.5 was awful for me, couldn't get a boot at all after setting anything other than cmos defaults.
Either roll back to an earlier version (dont think there's a newer?) or try the 1.9 mod from Xtremesystems.
