    aw9d-max 8800gtx x2?

    Hi there,bought a aw9d-max and a xfx8800gtx about 4 weeks ago.
The system runs exellent,11500 in 3dmark06 and 180000 in aquamark3.
So impressed by it all i went and bought a secondry xfx8800gtx card.
However on boot-up just as i get to windows log-inn bit i get the BSOD .Yes i know i should have checked forums and manufacterers before i bought my second card .So would i be better buying a 680i chipset now or wait a short while and hope for some hacked sli drivers to come out.

ps: wot does abit think/doing about this? Are abit going to do a sli patch?
If anybody got a modded sli driver for 8800 please contact me

    thank you

Thats a tough one. Who knows whether someone out there will produce hacked drivers for the 8800 or Nvidia swallows its collective pride and release a patch for unlocking SLi on desktops.
ATM there are some issues on 680i's, I personally would wait to see what Abit produce, hopefully without the SATA contoller issues or the XF-I issues or Nvidia stablises the sata etc problems.

Thanks Drat for your reply, been in touch with xfx and they said : Hi, thanks for your message, sorry to hear this. We are not aware of any drivers being released. However we do advise that you consult the mainboard manufacturer to check if it supports SLI. Hope all goes well, however if any queries or problems please keep us posted . My reply was ,why abit and why not xfx/nvidia after all its not the mobo drivers, its the graffix drivers that need sorting out.

ERM not offical no but there ARE HACKED drivers to get SLI working on the 975x boards (sneek seneek why else do you think abit supplies a SLI bridge wut this board?) jsut browse google, i think www.guru3d.com does the drivers.

    Or8 Gilgamesh,tried that driver of uguru,no joy
So i updated bios to 1.3 but that bios wouldnt see my memmory correctly,so i thought go back to 1.2 bios but unfortunatly my pc frooze up @ 6 %.
So now when i boot up ive got bad checksum error and attempting to read media from floppy. So it looks like i need to order a new bios, install it and flogg this aw9d-max and buy myself a other mobo thats NOT a abit board or a 775 chipset. If this the best abit can do for 140 quid ,i say no-more abit tat.Its about time manufactures sold hardware thats bug free and driver ready and does wot it says on the box.Not the maybe it do it when drivers/bios are sorted out.

TBH M8 the modded graphics driver was for the 80 series, since there are only 2 drivers available for the 8800 series it wouldnt have worked anyway.
The bios is a different issue and I agree with you there, there are numerous threads on the ABIT Universal USA forum on the problem you have had. The bios update is by default set to overwrite the bootblock and this seems to be the issue.

    http://forum.abit-usa.com/showpost.p...8&postcount=12
for more details. Not much good to you now I know.
I had similar issues with my Dominator memory 6400 C4 I could not get it to run @ 800mhz. the guys advised to update to 1.3 bios but seeing as so many were having bad flashes I took the advice of one guy and used MemSet 3.0 this allows you to mod your timings in windows save it so it will strt up at those timimgs each time. Saves a lot of hassle and grief such as you have had.

Also worth mentioning that I'm pretty sure that two 8800's won't work in SLI if they only have 8 x bandwidth each...as they do on the AW9D max

i think the dude wanted to have 7900gt's in SLI config, the aw9d max CAN do that however a 8800 series the aw9d max will not work in sli

I would advice on anyone NOT to flash with bios 1.3 YET until abit solve all the issues that have arisen form this new bios (see topic) I was lucky i manged to flash back to 1.2 with no problems.

Will get more info on these problems and give feedback to Sean so when he has the chance he can try and replicate the problems I am hving with his bios (indeed what a few people are having)
