    position of PSU fan

the 120mm fan in the Antec 650w is designed to be facing toward bottom of case with just a small space between fan and case (facing away from motherboard)

the cables sit flat on the floor of the chassis and I can read the PSU info etc, so this is the correct way, but I'm just wondering if someone can give me more info on the dymanics of this, how air flows etc etc.

    thanks

    Re: position of PSU fan

    Hi sails,

A lot of enclosures allow the installation of a PSU upside down, so that the fan will be facing upwards. This will be a much better way to install your PSU compared to the fan being so close to a closed part of your enclosure.

If there is still some space, the air flow should be still possible though, although the power supply and the fan of it will most likely spin faster making the unit work noisier than it should.

What is the enclosure that you are using? Do you know?

    Best regards,

    Re: position of PSU fan

it is the antec 300 hundred case

if I face the fan upwards away from the bottom of the case the leads are at the top of the fan which looks awkward, and the antec sticker on the PSU would not be visible, so i would be very surprised if these things were not part of the design to make the fan face down to bottom of case with just that small space, and it does seem it would work harder there so I am a little unclear on the manufactureres design on this

    Re: position of PSU fan

    Dear sails,

as power supplies are sometimes mounted in the top of a case and sometimes in the bottom depending on the case construction this really is something that we have to take into account. The best way to install your power supply in a Three Hundred is to face the fan upwards, although the cables will be at the top and stickers won't be visible. Performance wise this is a no brainer.

    Best regards,
