    So then... Few Newbie Q's

So, 5 days in and coming to terms with OS X.

I've a few niggles I would like answering if possible?

First up, I'm using a Windows keyboard and have a French wireless Mac keyboard and mouse on order - which was an absolute steal @ £8! (ebay!) - Yes it's french but that wont matter, ill either replace the keys or just cope. Baring in mind this machine is mainly going to be a HTPC anyway the keyboard will rarely be used.

    Anyhow...

How do you select multiple files (ala holding control in Windows)

Is there a button to 'delete'/send to trash -- DEL doesnt appear to do anything

Can the Mac Mini (1.66) take more than 2x1gb RAM? (2x 2gb?)
    - and it's 200pin SODIMM yeah? (std lappy stuff)

How do you go about sharing folders for Windows users and vice versa? At the minute they can't see each other, but I presume I'm looking in the wrong place (Network?) (Windows Sharing is enabled on the Mac)

I just went for the typical Value Select - I think I need to get me a pallet knife.

To mount shared folders (from a Windows share for example) - open finder and do:

    Apple+K

then your mount point will be:

    smb://<IP>

    etc....

Presume the Windows Key == Apple key on a Windows keyboard... Will try later.

The mac mini will possibly do 2gb + 1gb as well, but its not been tested.

You can also mount windows shares by going into finder clicking on network and finding the computer on the network.

If you are wanting to share on the mac for the windows computers download share points it makes it a breeze.

    Apple key = windows key

You can delete with apple key + backspace from memory or just drag to the trash

That's one thing I still haven't discovered on my MacBook - is there a keyboard shortcut to DELETE a file, rather than sending it to the trash? In Windows & Linux [delete] will usually send to recycle bin/trash but [shift]+[delete] will properly delete it. Is there an alternative key combo for Mac?

    Just stumbled on this...

I have 2X2gb ram installed in my mini right now, the system information only reports 2gb. I've had 1X2, 2X1 and 1x2+1X1 and still only 2gb. So at least I for one am satisfied that the mini can only use 2gb.

Then to empty the trash press Apple key + shift and delete then select ok on warning message or to do it without the warning
APPLE KEY + ALT + SHIFT and BACKSPACE

    Yup on there

Upgraded my Mini to 2gb and stuck a 120gb HDD in last night. Bit of a pain to get into, but just got over the fear of breaking it and managed to get inside.

Not been able to test it as my rebuild discs are in the box which is at the rents

... it does show up in System Profile though

May up the CPU at somepoint if they drop enough in price.
