A few weeks in now and Mac Pro is still awesome
It's just hit me how much of a mac addict i've become over the past 3 years..started out with a clamshell ibook off ebay for about £200, then picked up a 4th gen iPod and upgraded to an ibook G4, then a macbook...now I still have that plus a Mac Pro and an iPhone.
Thing is, when I bought each of those they were the best bang for buck on the market at the time. That clamshell was a bargin, there really was no competition to the iPod around the time I got my 4G..the ibook was so small and light for the money I paid (no PC could come close) and perfect for a web/dvd playing machine.
Then the macbook - bought it on launch when there was nothing close to that spec for the price when you include the student discount (sadly this has changed now); you still can't build a dekstop PC the same spec as my Octo-Mac Pro for anywhere close to what I paid..and the recent iPhone bargin is also cheapest in its classed for a brand new smartphone.
The sad part of it all though? I still run Windows Vista as my main OS...if only VMWare would finally fix the bugs in fusion, i'd be able to switch over completely
I did have xp on my mbp because I thought I wouldn't like OSX that much, but I loved it so XP went, although I am thinking of putting my Vista on my macpro to run a few games
Talking of mac obsessed I have become a bit like that to.
Last Feb I brought my Macbook Pro, I was originally after a PC laptop but wanted something that looked cool and had a screen res higher than 1280x800 (or what ever it is) Was and still is amazingly quick.
Christmas got my 16gb Ipod Touch.
May get an iphone when they make one that supports HSDPA.
Now I have the Mac Pro! wow its the most amazing machine I have ever used and to think I was so close to buying an iMac. few.
Hehe it's easy to get hooked isn't it
I would be on OSX all the time but since i'm self employed and my only income is from programming, and 99% of that is done with .NET i'm still stuck with Vista.
VMware fusion is really promising but they still have issues with vista activation and some other little things that are stopping my purchase...once thats sorted i'll be back to using OSX as my main OS and just run Visual Studio through fusion.
Tell me about it I had on my desk last week two macbook pro's an iPhone, a mac mini. Loads of mac related boxes for software etc.
I should have taken a picture of the addiction!
Whilst we have two pcs in the house they are for display only and are never used these days. We are mac only.
