Always is. New nano design; looks more like gen2 with a larger screen. Updated touch although it will probably be almost the same. Rumors; new/updated shuffle. No news on classic though...
9th of September the day it is so i will be holding out for a new ipod. Not too sure whether to get a touch or a classic. Original touch was too expensive and capacity was too small for me, if they make a 32gb alot cheaper then i will probably get one ^^ unless someone knows how to fix a hard drive from an ipod video?
The current consensus amongst rumour websites and general gossip is iPods and Macbooks. The iPods are up for their general update - with the Nano set to be the main one (Engadget Spain managed to find some 4G cases at a trade show, thus "proving" the new design rumours were accurate). The prices are also slated to be dropping so that the reduced price iPhone doesn't take too much of the market share.
As for the Macbooks and Macbook Pros, well, Centrino 2 is the major update that they're missing - since Apple is usually pretty cosy with Intel and has so far been pretty much on top of their processor updates with their "speed bumps". A design revamp to make them look more like the Air is also supposed to be happening at some point, since the Macbook shares the old Powerbook design and is one of the few Apple products to have not had a major redesign since its release. One would also expect a RAM bump, with DDR2 being so cheap, 2GB in the "top of the range" laptop line seems stingy - not to mention a graphics update, to the X4500 and to either the HD3600 or 9600MGT.
9th September is the day that analysts are reckoning (still not entirely sure why..) for the iPod revamp, the Macbook might be updated then as well but apparently it should warrant a separate event.
It's not a very difficult process, obviously if the hard drive is buggered you're not going to be able to do very much except buy a new one and refit it. If it's out of warranty and you don't mind spending a bit of money then it's a fun way to spend an afternoon.
Simply..
1. Pop the case open, carefully remove all the ribbon cables before separating both shells.
2. the hard drive should be on the "top layer" of stuff, so just flip up, remove it's ribbon cable and take it out.
3. Transfer the rubber and foam trim to the new hard drive.
4. Pop the new drive in.
5. Make sure all the cables are back in the iPod firmly (most have a white line to guide you as to when they're fully in).
6. Download the iPod updater from Apple's Website and do a restore. Should do the trick!

http://www.macrumors.com/2008/09/02/...9th-lets-rock/ There you go!
I was gutted to find out when "Let's Rock" was scheduled... it was a day after I left San Francisco ... not that there was really any chance of me getting in or anything, it would just have been nice to say "I was there at the same time!"
