Plenty of new products just announced.
The new aluminium macbook is going on my wish list already!
I'll update with uk links when the store returns.

Not seen prices yet, there were price drops on the plastic macbook version announced. Well in the US anyway.
Glossy screens seem to becoming the most common choice. Personally I'm undecided on them still.
Edit: Ouch just seen the price of the top of the range macbook Well that's far too much
when questioned (jobs et al) about reflective problems and glossy screens I thought the reply was rather weak; 'you can take your laptop anywhere to avoid background light, new LEDs will push out more light and glossy screens were deemed more popular...'

i thought these new macs where ment to be cheaper? not more expensive.
i like the new macs alot but it would mean having to sell my desktop and still save up=( and thats for a basic new mac.
im hoping the price will drop soon but i doubt it.

Abosolutely ridculous,
they're charging the uk consumer 200 quid more for the new 'mid' macbook, i understand theyve never been near the exchange rate, with taxes, tariff maybe explaining it, but even 200 quid is a stretch. And they've put the price up on the old base macbook! hows does that make any sense when they dropped the price in the US by $100!
You've got to have a dream, if you don't have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?
not sure why they've done all this...such vast prices when compared to the (pc) competition...its all a little underwhelming from apple of late
actually prices gone up across the board. pants.

Quite, particularly in the present market.
I buy a lot of computers for clients and do try to suggest Mac's to those clients who a mac might be more suitable for. Very few go for one, for the simple reason of cost. It's hard to go for something that is a minimum of £800 over a good dell which can be found for £400-500. It's not an orange to orange comparison, but that's how a lot of people look at it.
I'd love one of the new macbook's, to replace my current macbook pro, however the decent one is priced nearly as much as my current macbook pro and hasn't got that much better specs.
That said the idea of a 13in macbook and one of those nice 24in ACD's is sooooo tempting! It talks to my idea cable heaven more than anything. Just three cables going into the macbook all from the acd.
One thing you do have to hand to apple and Ive is that I thought they'd struggle to produce a worthy replacement for the macbook pro. In this new design I think they've done that and more!
I thought they might suprise everyone with a netbook ala eeepc maybe next year
I was moaning about this until I discovered that the US store doesn't factor in sales tax, until you put in your zip code (it's different for each state)
For a white macbook, the markup works out at around £50, which isn't that bad, considering shipping into the EU, the mandatory 3 year warranty, and hedging for US currency.
Cable tidyness, yes, always been a good thing going for apple but I prefer the old more distinctive design. the new one makes the 'pro' look more 'consumer'/imac than ever tbh...everything looks the same across the board now. and at some price! I suppose the glossy screen is ok if you sit in a darkened room late at night and avoid all reflections but I assume not everyone will...

I must admit my kneejerk reaction was "the Brits are being ripped off again"...
Base macbook -£949 or $1500.
$1300/1.75=£742
£742+VAT = £871
So we're being lightly roasted, but not terribly, and I can guess which way the dollar might go relative to the pound... (It still might be worth picking one up from the states if you happen to be going that way!)
