Snow Leper bug Deletes User data

    http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/...-deletes-users

WHILE THE APPLE FRIENDLY PRESS has been crowing about the loss of data on Microsoft servers in the Danger fiasco, Apple snuck out a quiet announcement about how its Snow Leopard operating system also deletes users' personal data.
For the past month, some Mac OS X users have been reporting that all their data turned up missing after logging into their guest accounts.
So don't use your guest account for guests, when you don't want them to see what you've been studying pictures of.

My temptation to crow how that in decades of computer use I've never lost data other than act of idiotic farther thinking i'd taken up too much of the 43meg HDD. But its not down to just how well tested NT is, its the fact that regular backups, on multiple mediums are just a good idea.

Say what you like about microsoft, but I've never known a windows bug spontaneously delete a whole account's data all at once !

This isn't a just permissions lock-out problem (which is another common mac gotcha)
    - it actually deletes the data.

Not really an announcement, just a press quote:

"We are aware of the issue, which occurs only in extremely rare cases, and we are working on a fix"
