The more I fill up my ibook (60 gb HD) with photos, music and video the more I think I should be backing all this stuff up.
What is the best bit of kit for the job?
Thanks all.

Seagate Firewire Drive
Depends on your budget. You can get a tiny 80gb Lacie drive designed by Porsche for about £100
I guess budjet is no more than £120.
Size doesn't matter too much.
funnily enough, the 160Gb is also just shy of £100 - and the 250Gb is around £130... That's the one I'd go for.Originally Posted by Norky
Check out Micro Direct.
I've got the 250gb one at the mo and its nice
yeah i was thinking of exactly the same - seems like a better alternative to attempting to upgrade the internal HDD on the iBook
Would suggest you simply by an external enclosure eg. IcyBox and then choose the drive and imaging software (eg. Acronis TrueImage) of your choice. Will probably work out cheaper than buying a bespoke external drive.
Firewire is slightly faster than USB2 though both are considerably slower
that PATA/SATA.
If portability is your thing, go for a external 2.5" enclosure (eg. Icybox). Drives will be much smaller capacity, more expensive and slower though.
I guess all I want to do is backup my system incase my hard drive goes bang, perhaps whilst trying to load Tiger! I don't really want to store too much stuff but I do want to make sure what I have got is safe.
