A question re: the Mini Macs

    Hi guys,

I've not posted for ages on here, not that anyone would miss me, as, erm, i didn't post much before! but i have a question...

I'm currently running two machines - my luberly ibook 1.1Ghz and an AMD Athlon 64 XP/Linux machine.

My ibook is the business and as a result i have been thinking about buying a desktop Mac, but i have a few questions.

    i) I'm going to use the desktop machine for a number of apps, which are lightweight:

    Office, itunes, DVD player, net/email.

BUT as i would not be using an XPeeee machine anymore i thought it would be prudent to get Virtual PC for it too..

Now would a Mac Mini be ok to use for Virtual PC? i don't really understand the architecture of Macs, but i should imagine it will be ok?

Next, how much longer are Apple going to support 32bit/G4s? Doesn't tiger support 32bit/64bit "Fat binaries"? Would it be worth going for a Powemac G5?

    Cheers

    Dan.

if your gonna get a mac mini - max out the ram or at least add to it - its seriously a MUST esp for tiger were 256 just aint enough

if i was going desktop mac id get the 17" G5 iMac - £999 gets you a good setup

it depends on the cash really

dont know about virtual pc but i expect it requires a lot of sytem resources to work well.

Yes, the RAM would be upgraded instantaneously

I don't fancy the iMac, i've already got a belting LCD monitor...

I second/third...get yourself a 1GB stick for the mini from crucial. I've never used VPC on the mac, but I use it on the PC, and it slows it down severley!
