Oh cheers, i did actaully do the Crucial config, but cheers for the link anyway.

Just is 1Gb really necessary when 512 would do? I can't really think of such a low spec PC really needing the 1Gb surely.

I may be looking to get the cheapest one you see.

And as i am a student...

EDIT: Oh thats cool, when i did my little search only the 1Gb one came up, cool, they do sell the 512, may buy some. Will have to wait and see if i eventually buy a mini. So i am guessing that opening the Mac Mini Case doesn;'t void the warranty, as apple has been showing quite a few pictures of the inseide etc?

512 is minimum I'd say (just as with winxp - sure, it'll run with 128/256, but it's won't be very nice..)

Yep, you can open the case on the mac mini without voiding your warrenty, but be *careful* as there's plenty of things in there to break if you're a bit clumsy

Yes, i've seen a number of HOWTOs on the web, relating to upgrading RAM on the minis, it looks terrifying how much force you need to prize the lid off, i'll think i'll give it a miss and upgrade to 1Gb via Apple. I don't want to damage my new baby

If you do change your mind, using your flat knife, open it at the same corner as the power-on light, because when upright, the RAM is very close to the left edge. The Fan encasement is on the right hand side so theres much less chance of damaging anything.

Theres about 4 clips holding the bottom on, at each side apart from the rear. Prise 1 clip open. then gradually work your way round until all the clips open. Dont try and force it open in 1 go as you're bound to knacker it. Also, make sure you place the top of the mini upside down on a book or a table cloth so it or the table isnt scratched.

I did change me mind, so thanks for the advice...

I got stoodent discount, on a 1.4Ghz model, if i had got the RAM from apple it would have been well over 400 notes, which really defeats the purpose of the mac mini - an affordable mac... I went with 1Gb from Crucial...
