Buying a Powerbook off ebay

Just been browsing around ebay, and came across this buy now auction. You might know I've been looking at a 15" powerbook, but obviously a 17" for the same price would be outstanding.

The thing is, I can't shake nagging doubts about buying things off ebay, even with all that positive feedback. What happens to warranties, Apple support etc? Is buying this kind of thing off ebay a good idea?

I'd be very wary of buying such an item. They are high cost and high risk.

That person has 100% feedback but it could be a hijacked account.

I don't like the fact there isnt a picture of the actual item just a stock image.

I would get his telephone number and address and actually ring it to chat to him about the item , most legit sellers would be happy to do this. make sure its a land line.

My thought's exactly. I think it's just 17" envy (oo-er!), I think I'd feel more comfortable buying out of the Apple shop.

£1.4K is a lot to 'gamble' on an Ebay auction. If yo have any queries re: the validity of a seller you can contact Ebay and ask if the account/seller is legit but also contact some of the previous buyers. When you get an email reply check the header against taht of the seller, if they originate from the same IP beware!

I would opt for a cash/pickup deal then you can check the pbook over personally. You can also ask for the serial number of the unit and check with Apple directly for it's AppleCare status (if they say it is still covered!)

I would be a little concerned as this item is being sold at a killer price. If he was SO sure about it, he would have auctioned them and gotten MORE!

Something is deffo fishy here, and the fact that he is selling in 'numbers'. I got my 17" in singapore for £1668 and I was quite happy...
