Tranfering Files from PC to old Mac

Was wondering if anyone could help - I have a small print business for which I need to run a piece of machinery (an imagesetter) via an old Mac Quadra (OS7.5). However, all the files I need are on a Win XP PC.

I briefly tried connecting the XP machine to the Mac via the Appletalk ethernet dongle but didn't manage to get the 2 talking (this may still be the solution if anyone knows a thing or 2 about Mac networking).

My other option was using a Zip drive - however, I read up on this, got a USB Zip drive for the PC and an SCSI one for the Mac only to find out that OS7.5 doesn't support the Zip. There is a couple of pages out there that give solutions on how to get Zips working with older Macs but I didn't have any joy.

Just wondering if anyone can suggest the best route to persue?

First things first, I would try to source a copy of OS 8.1 to run on the Quadra. This should (if my memory serves) allow you to use the zip drive. 8.1 will also probably let you connect to the network using the ethernet dongle, I haven't had many problems connecting old macs to PC networks.

I was just told the same on a Mac forum - seems that would help me get the TCP/IP and the Zip working and apparently the Quadra can just handle it as I've upgraded to memory to 128MB (which was fun!).
