Can I fill up my Nano with random songs?

I've been playing around with my new nano this evening, but there's one thing I can't figure out how to do. I want to either fill the available space (2GB) with songs, or a certain number of songs, chosen randomly from my entire music library. When I tried to get iTunes to do this the first time, it selected a few whole albums, rather than a properly random playlist.

Is there an option to randomly fill the available space, or to randomly choose a certain number of songs?
