Official specs say 2000 and XP only.

Thats quite wierd that they would go and ditch a lot of people like that as you would expect them to try and target the nieve e-machines group who don't know how to upgrade but like gadgets or want music stuff like that. Probably a hundred better scenarios, but you get my point.

Yer but they only support OS X as well.

IMO the sooner people ditch Windows 9x the better. New games coming out (Far Cry for example) support 2k and XP only, and people have had 4 years to upgrade. If their PC doesn't run 2k or XP, it's unlikely to have Firewire or USB2 either.

Hmm I'm not sure if this battery claim isn't totally unfounded. Had a 15Gb iPod bought in September brought back today with a dead battery (ie, won't charge to 100% and dies within 10 minutes).

It is definitely true, my iPod (2nd Gen) has a much shorter battery life than the 8hours claimed. It's more like about 3-4. Can't say I'm impressed with it on the whole, it doesn't seem a very ronbust piece of hardware as mine keeps corrupting itself and crashes (even with the lastest firmware).
