mac printers?

I'm looking into getting a printer for my mac. I found out that my preivous printer wasn't compatable with the Mas OS which was really annoying.

I'm looking for a printer that is great at printing pictures and maybe supporting A3 as long as its not too expensive.

Any ideas?

I know the HP Photosmart 2710 I had came with Mac drivers, though it is a network printer with scanning and faxing capabilities (alongside the usual printer, card reader and pictbridge support). Doesn't support A3, but does borderless prints up to A4 size, and is very good at reproducing photos (the settings take a bit of fiddling with though).

My Epson C66 worked perfectly and most epsons to my knowledge work

Ah, if you specifically want A3 then disregard my post above - but if you do decide to stick with A4 then its a very good option

Are mac printers lots more money than windows printers? Everything seems way more expensive!

any postscript printer should work

osx has cups built in (browse to localhost:631) and is therefore compatible with anything in the cups list. go look at http://www.linuxprinting.org/printer_list.cgi for an idea of what works with cups

Cheers for that, I have a Cannon MP360s and its not in the list so it looks as if I can't se it

edit - actually I just found the MP360

What you can try is the standard apple postscript drivers in os x. I have to do this to get my HP all in one to work across a windows and pc network.

I am using the apple colour laserwriter 12/600 drivers for the hp which seem to work.

90% of printers will just work out the box with OSX, Ive used a couple with my macs and they've all worked with the built in drivers

As for A3, its not so great for pictures but my HP 5Si w/ duplexer shoves out double sided A3 at a crazy speed

canon have poor non-windows support

an hp or epson is a better bet, and both do low-end models cheap
