    Nano to back up photos.

Can I use a 4gb Nano to back up the 1000s of photos on my iBook?
I may be able to get the photos onto the Nano but would I be able to get them back on a mac if my iBook was to be broken, lost, stolen, explode etc.

Can't see why you can't just use the nano as a removable drive. While it's connected copy all your photos across to nano in a set folder, should stay there until you take them off, or format the thing.

capacity would probably be an issue.. say 2000 photos, at 2-3 meg each is 5 gig..

Yes you can, although it'd be cheaper and easier to buy a USB Drive or Burn them to CD/DVD.
