Overall I liked it, and certainly prefferd it to the Golf, it felt like you were really driving it, the Golf was more Go/Stop, in the BMW you could work the engine once you got used to it. Lot smaller than the Golf inside, would compare the interior size more to the Polo. But they are right when they call them a Driving Machine and I can understand more why people like them now.
    Liked:
Driving position - seat/wheel adjustment, nice and low with the M Sport version
    Driving feeling/experience
Handling was good, and felt like you were involved
Looks - yes looks, they really grow on you
    Disliked:
Cheap, plastic interior - although it all worked for purpose
Pedals set to one side so you were kind of sat at an angle, didn't bother me but my wife didn't like it.
Image - endless comments of "ooo, look at you in a BMW", or "Didn't know you had a Beemer" etc. etc....... actually got to do my nut in after a bit to be honest.
EVERYTHING is Extra and expensive - £80 for a cup holder

Would I have one again, yes providing i'm not paying for it (which I wasn't)

    Re: Hexus car history

Yeah, it's lush, it still feels like it's got loads more power to give at 9500rpm

In the end I spent a little more than I planned - £7700 got me an 06 reg with the red and black leather interior I wanted, with in built sat nav, park assist ,heated seats, Bose sound system and only 25k miles.

Absolute bargain when you consider that new, with the extras this would have cost £25k plus!

    1. Dodge (Mitsubishi) Colt
    2. Volvo V40
Both bought and run in the US, don't remember much of the spec.
    3. 1.4 Honda Civic SE - reliable and dull
    4. Something less reliable and more fun...?

1995 Ford Fiesta 1.1 from new (died last year, sob)
    2003 VW Polo 1.2

How boring is that? What's scary is the 1.2 feels like a rocket-ship in comparison. Still, it would be hypocritical of me to drive something with a big engine when I'm an environmental scientist by trade. Maybe.
