Sorry if this has been posted before. I'm damn glad Richards is involved TBH. I know I boast about it at every at opportunity- I did a couple of weeks work experience with the Subaru WRC team in '99, and came away hugely impressed with the whole Prodrive operation. If anyone can make a success of Aston it's him I reckon. Just wish I could afford to buy one for meself.
Glad it went to him rather than the Egyptian consortium. Good news IMO.
He already runs the Aston race team, if there's anyone for the job it's him.

Its not prodrive that bought them, but its owner and a consortium of investors (including several Kuwaities if iirc)

Aston's name. They are two seperate entities (prodrive and aston).

I doubt that. Mercedes are currently looking at a way of getting rid of Chrysler as they are loosing them money left right and centre.
I think they are hoping that the money saved will allow them to pump more in MB and bring the over engineered quality back, something they were told to stop due to cost around the time of the Chrysler merge/buyout.
Ford need the cash...expect to see other things they own being sold off...

It's good to see Aston back in brit hands, and I can imagine prodive's expertise actually giving them a shot at challenging porsche as proper sports cars as well as image.

Ford are in trouble after a downturn in the sales of big SUVs and trucks, which is what their range in America predominantly sells. GM was having trouble recently too, though not sure on the cause of that.
Ford also have massive medical and pension payments in the US which is crippling them. I think the same goes for GM too.
I think the only Ford devision that has made money in the past few years is Ford Finance. Not even sure if they break even on each vehicle sold.
