dont worry i dont mind other people posting their pics in the thread
not off to a good start
yeah it does resemble the c30 quite a bit imo, and it drives sweetly, insurance starts next monday, though it isn't extremely cheap though for my first policy its acceptable. some people were quoting 2-4k for the 480 or mx5
took a while to find one with a suitable price

When I have my info centre working I'll report back to you, believe it or not there is a 480 owners club so I'm getting a bit of help from them lot; another friendly bunch Quite a few faults with these because they were 'ahead of their time' - strange they put them on the 480 but not on the 440/460.Originally Posted by digit
Ta, I wanted something a bit different and for the money I think I've got a pretty good car, its only done 70k and last volvo service was at 54k, the second owner took care of things himself...Originally Posted by J4MES
Plus it carries a few more people and luggage than the mx5 (the other one i was looking at)

yeh you just have to drop your standards unfortunalty.
its always more of a problem for you guys who arent 17 because all your mates that passed at 17 have now got nice cars and you wanna be like that but insurance wont let you
Nothing wrong with £300 for a car , if you like it and it does the job then thats all that counts , being a girlie i find if its got an engine that runs and four wheels it will do for me , i wish i could have found that for £300
I probably paid over the odds a lot of them seem to go for around £200 and those advertised on autotrader are just wishing for too much
I quite like the car, its extremely comfortable and should be ok to maintain To be honest a lot of more expensive cars would have been cheaper to insure this 480 is insurance group 12!! And would is costing me around the same as a jap import mx5 would have.
It doesn't seem that bad a car for the price. I'm gonna give her a proper clean after ive got all my bits together I'm pretty much like you kickstart, its my first motor and i hope it to last me 3 to 4 years (which it should do without a lot needing to be changed), I can't really complain, just the goddamn dog hairs are everywhere, i cannot believe how resilient they are to coming out of the seats! lol

I dont have any problems with insurance for any car tbh , seeing i am ..ahem over 21 i just dont get it spending thousands of pounds on a car ? If it gets me from A to B thats all that matters , i cant see the point in getting into thousands of pounds worth of debt for a car , who cares ? Is it just an ego thing with guys? You stick with your 'new car ', do what you can/afford to keep it on the road and have many hours fun being mobile now !!
I wish my first car looked like that. Mine was a purple and white Triumph Herald and cost me £30. My weekly wage was £15 so not really cheap. I wonder how much I would get for it now.
I can just about remember that first car feeling. It felt a bit like that other first time(I think).

I forgot it had an 8track in it so that made it a bargain.
bonny looking first car m8e!!
When I was learning to drive the guy who fitted my mum and dads central heating had a black 480 1.7 Turbo with blacked out windows... I adored that car!! Never got to drive one... I had to make do with a Talbot Samba Trio with rusted door hindges!! but at least I was mobile at 17!!
Just got it taxed so will be able to fill her up and take her for a proper drive saturday/sunday.
I spent 7 hours yesterday replacing the headlight mechanism, and despite it being a right farce it was well worth it as it all works
Super happy because of that, managed to get them working and popping up etc, tis well awesome
It's not the turbo but still has some grunt, it should do me well tho fuel economy isn't going to be top notch; however I'm no boy racer so it should do me well for a few years.
Proper chuffed to have a car to my name now
