hrmm, my car is front engined, rwd with the gearbox over the rear axel (see the new ferrari). 3 doors, with a spoiler, tinted windows et al. its not particularly big, or particularly heavy, in fact its about sportscar size.. its very direct, no gizmo's like power steering or abs, just like sports cars. its also quite easy to slide round, with controlable drift... yet.. its hardly a sports car..

Sorry, I think the early Audi Quattros were definitely sports cars - they were WRC (lombard RAC) for a number of years - but they still had five seats (before they were stripped out ) and were based on the standard saloons iirc.

I dont drive a sports car, 0-60 in 7.8, 135 top end, not quick enuf to 60, too many doors, too many toys, 135 top end is fine, would be better if it got there faster tho, the XE's a nice engine tho

hehe... i knew this would open up a whole can of worms...

    1. to get an MX-5 outa shape is easy, wet or dry (and they're massively tunable... race series' in both the US and Europe)
    2. the MX-5's heritage lies in the sportscars of the 60's/70's (MGB, Elan)
    3. i didn't write the definition, should have mentioned it's Google origins... and i only agree with some parts...

so, the cheap jibes about hairdressers cars etc. don't really matter - just wondered what you all thought.... i guess Lowe's car is more 'sports' than mine in many ways (especially bhp/tonne) and less in others... and the F1 - yeah, that's a sports car and a half
