At uni we have something similar. It's actually an air raid siren. And sweet be jesus, does it shift a lot of air. We used it to simulate driving at speed for the turbo intercooler on our formula student car. I walked in front of it and nearly knocked myself over. Mad stuff.

the picture properties imply it's a 480 Turbo... now I know Volvo did one of those, but i'm thinking it doesn't look well made and sturdy enough to be one of theirs...

Nah, the 480 turbo was rubbish. My mum had one. All the electrics went mad on it. Occasionally the speedo would stop working, or possibly the heater fan, or occasionally the lights, how about the onboard computer, or the central locking, or the alarm. This coupled with the fact that it produced less power than my 1.6 na (it's a 1.7 renault energy engine with a turbo attached to it) make it pretty rubbish really. Oh and it leaked as well.

i'd heard the 480 turbo was pretty good.

in general the volvo 4** cars were/are crap. me dads got one and it breaks down much more regularly than my 340 thats 8 years older.

gets bonus points for having lots of toys and being shaped like cheeze thou. i actually think they look quite good. dirt cheap too - you can get a non-turbo 1.7 for about £300
