Oh right. Well here you have to be within about 5 cms of the pavement or you fail. There are no lines...lol. And your not meant to use your mirrors much.

ur talking about parralel parking not bay parking which XTR is talking about mate
I don't give a **** if people open their doors into my old banger, so when I see some selfish **** who's parked over the line taking up two spaces, I quite often squeeze my car in next to them leaving an inch of space or so just to teach them a lesson, then walk off laughing at the thought of them having to climb over from the passenger side.

one car, 3-4 spaces i would think. now add a trailer (or ven better one of those 40ft caravans) and you may as well shut down sainsbury's

just park in the cripplespots at supermarkets. i mean really, when was the last time you saw 30 disabled people in sainsburies in any one time. parking there means yer right by the doors so you dont have to walk very far, and you dont have to park striaght cos the spaces are twice as wide, and no-one will bash yer doors. problem solved

Unless my m8 dave see's ya, his sisters disabled and it winds him rite up when ppl nick disabled spaces...Originally Posted by 5lab
It winds me up when people can't park, My Octavia is HUGE and I can still put it in a space without issue, I find shiny cars to park next to when going to Tesco's etc, I've never had any problem (touch wood) with idiots scratching my car.
Is it really that difficult to park a car, I mean you've got reverse, take several goes at it if you need to

Hey...hints and tips guys
Like Skii said park next to the newest one.....but thats not always good....(rental car etc)
Simply see if you can park next to the same model as you...ie Megane or Astra etc.
Cos the door moudlings are in the same place....so they only ever hit the same height
Its worth a try anyway....works on car forecourts.
i ahte watching people TRY to park and then give up....cos invariably my Signum/Zafira/Vectra fits in where the Metro failed a minute ago.
And never forget.....there is no "nearly hit it" in parking
You either do or don't
SO 3 mm is fine manouvring room....just get good with mirrors

I do this whatever car it is, I'd do it to a car that was even more beaten up than mine, but in general it's people in nice cars who haven't got the good manners to park properly.

nah bay parking mate .Originally Posted by Russ
You have to reverse tound a 90 corner and then go back and back on the side. So basically a large bay, but you have to be close to one side.
Unlike parallel which is next to a pavement.
hmm that was a crap description but I know what I mean..lol

im glad u do, cos i'm lost :/
i do like the idea of parking so close that the crap parker has to shuffle over from the passengers side - even better if you can get someone else to park really close the other side too

That's reversing around a corner mate, there's no need to do it in parking bays..

Ah, now that wouldn't work, because if they're over the line one side, there must be lots of space on the other. The point of doing this is that you yourself must be parked perfectly within the lines.Originally Posted by Nox

I find that if you park next to someone who has the same car as you (eg i have a ford KA) they have respect for you cos u have the same taste as them.
Its interesting how driving tests change. People tell you so many different ways but the examiner only really cares about your observation and that its in between the lines. It doesnt even matter if its slightly wonky, just as long as it doesnt go over the white lines.
There's a thin person in every fat person.....that's because they just ate them.
