the new cammer engine does look very promising though, especially with a supercharged version due out later this year

Shame it's Left hand drive really
Is this a pre-prod concept or somebody's workshop build?
Hey co-incidence, I was just thinking about this a couple of hours ago. It was in Auto Express a month or two ago but I never got round to posting it. The conversion costs quite a lot 'cos you've got to shell out for all the suspension and drivetrain as well as the engine, but you'd end up with a ****ing fast car at the end of the day. I didn't realise had a rear drive conversion, I was worried that it would handle like a pig on roller skates.
I wonder if you have to have an RS to start with? If you could convert an old 1.4 or something that would be schweeeeeet!

dunno how it'd handle - the focus apparently handles well but this is due to the fact that the chassis has been tweaked and tuned for fwd - maybe powering the rear wheels would f8k this up?
hughlunnon@yahoo.com | I have sigs turned off..
It was a pre production concept just to show how it could be done i think, not running or anything yet, should be interesting if they try it though
Yeah? I heard they were about to start selling the conversion kit....Originally Posted by Knoxville

Why are the exhaust pipes linked like that then?
Mini!!!!!
It's a balance pipe. It keeps the pressure the same between the two sides. I'm not entirely sure what the benefit of that is but there obviously is one.Originally Posted by sdp

ok, trying to keep it as simple as possible....
Think of the exhaust gasses leaving the cylinder after ignition as a solid plug traveling down the exhaust pipe.
Now, that lump of gasses is going to create a vacuum in it's trail.
If you time it right, you can use the vacuum created to pull additonal air in on the induction stroke.
if you think of a V8 as two separate 4 cyclinders engines, the need for a balance pipe becomes obvious.
*disclaimer: If this isn't obvious, its because this was written after coming back from the pub and thus I'm a little intoxicated, and have strange ideas running around my head, some of them will benefit mankind and some will help in my eternal quest of more money, job satisfaction and world wild domination
That looks nice. Hope they manage to sort out the other issues with the older one while they are at it.
Love it how the exhausts are built into the rear bumper.
